Abortions in China Increase Breast Cancer Cases 40%, More Women Die

Beijing, China (LifeNews.com) -- A women's group that monitors the link between abortion and breast cancer is pointing to a new report released by the Chinese government showing cases of breast cancer are up by 40 percent. That's significant, the group says, because of the high incidence of both abortion and forced abortions in China.

The Chinese Ministry of Health says 3.53 out of every 100,000 Chinese women died from breast cancer from 1990 to 1992.

The fatality rate of breast cancer in the 1991-2000 period rose 38.7 percent for urban Chinese women, and 39.1 percent for those in rural areas.

The disease is affecting younger women aged 45-49, 10-15 years younger than their counterparts in the United States, and Karen Malec, head of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer says that's because of the prevalence of abortion.

According to Angela Lanfranchi, MD, FACS, Associate Professor of Surgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, abortion made breast cancer a young woman's disease.

"The Chinese government, like the American government, isn't telling women why they're getting more breast cancers," Malec says.

"Here's a little clue for the Chinese and U.S. governments. Nations that prohibit abortion (like Ireland and Poland) have significantly lower breast cancer rates," Malec explained citing an October 2005 article in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.

"Abortion is prevalent in China because of the one-child per couple policy," Malec said. "Chinese women have early first full term pregnancies, and subsequent illegal pregnancies are forcibly aborted. Scientists agree that having an early first full term pregnancy (the earlier, the lower the risk) significantly reduces breast cancer risk."

It borders on the criminal that health care professionals and the media have conspired to keep the real health risks of abortion from the public. This is one area where politics have been allowed to trump the public's right to know.

And neither does this article tell women why they're getting more breast cancer. So, I'll pose the question: Why are women getting more breast cancers?

I haven't kept up on this debate but I will say I graduated from Medical School in 1985 and I was taught that there was a relationship between pregnancy and birth at a young age causing a decrease in breast cancer and there was a correlation between abortion of a first pregnancy and a increase in breast cancer. No kidding I remember this. Maybe because I am a woman.

Why are women getting more breast cancers?

The studies that I have found a linking abortion and breast cancer talked about a physical change that the breast cells go through in preparation for milk production. The sudden change in hormones caused by an abortion leave the breast cells of young women in a state more susceptible to cancer.

From article at: http://www.lifenews.com/oped12.html

Angela Lanfranchi, M.D., "In short, interrupting a normal pregnancy with abortion leaves a woman with an increase in the number of undifferentiated breast cells [the Type 1 and 2 lobules] that are more susceptible to carcinogens. These carcinogens include estrogen, a type of hormone found in hormone replacement therapy and birth control pills. Abortion of a first pregnancy is especially harmful and most damaging to teenagers.

You went to a decent medical school. Many medical schools would probably have exclude politically incorrect studies and inconvenient facts that are at odds with abortion on demand. The popular news media is a much more strident in their opposition to those inconvenient facts. They know that their general audience is almost always uncommitted to fact checking.

Thanks. I've seen a number of posts commenting on the relationship between abortion and breast cancer, but none had ever proposed the mechanism of action.
