Miller Tells Her Story in CIA Leak Probe
By PETE YOST, Associated Press Writer 13 minutes ago
Notes by the New York Times' Judith Miller that were turned over in a criminal investigation contain the name of a covert CIA officer, but the reporter has told prosecutors she cannot recall who disclosed the name, the newspaper reported Saturday.
The prosecutor in the case asked Miller in recent days to explain how Valerie Plame misspelled in those notes as "Valerie Flame" appeared in the same notebook the reporter used in interviewing her confidential source, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, according to the Times.
In response to questioning by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, Miller replied that she "didn't think" she heard Plame's name from Cheney's aide, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

"I said I believed the information came from another source, whom I could not recall," Miller wrote, She wrote Valerie Flame on the Libby notebook, as a reminder to ask him about her during the interview. As many have guessed, she's covering up for the real leaker, and it's not Rove or Libby.

Valerie FlameSounds like Joe Wilson was the source for that!

She wrote Valerie Flame on the Libby notebook, as a reminder to ask him about her during the interview. As many have guessed, she's covering up for the real leaker, and it's not Rove or Libby. Bingo - This is exactly right and where my brain went several minutes after digesting this article - The name was given to her prior to the interview (and it was a topic to bring up / mention with Libby to see where it lead).
Lets hope Fitzgerald is half as smart as the MSM have been trying to say he is - He'll see this very quickly then -

she already knew Plame as she was one of the the NYT WMD reporter, and Plame worked on these issues.
I say throw Miller back into jail on general principle-- who was she protecting before her memory was erased? Certainly she didn't spend almost three months in jail to come up with "I don't remember".

Looks like the crazed Fitzpatrick is focusing on Libby as the source of the leak rather than Karl Rove. But what Miller is giving him isn't enough to indict him since she seems to be clearing him as being the source. Clearly the source for Plame's identity is someone outside the administration. Regardless, no law was broken. Plame wasn't an undercover CIA agent with a foreign assignment for about 10 yrs. at the time her identity was revealed. The law stipulates a 5 yr. period from the time of an agent's last foreign assignment.

... she "didn't think" she heard Plame's name from Cheney's aide, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. Proof positive then. Rove is the leak. /sarc.

But of course the dead silence from the NySlimes and Miller is due to the fact that Miller knew of the connection from Wilson or Valerie darling herself.
To: Sub-Driver
If you read this whole story, it outlines something completely different than what the MSM has been pushing. And, that the Times and Judith Miller have known that all along.
P.S. The controversy started with Novak's column, at which time, it is hard to believe that Judith Miller would not have recalled who told her ......

Let me guess: she got it from Joe Wilson? or another NYT reporter who heard it from Wilson?
