The Sleazy Clinton Legacy
Media Monitor ^ | 10/18/2005 | Cliff Kincaid

The Washington Post ran a story on September 16 about oral sex being prevalent among teens, citing a new study by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). The story by Laura Sessions Stepp quoted Kristin Moore of a group called Child Trends as saying, "If a substantial number of young people are having oral sex, as these numbers indicate, this is a big concern." But why was this happening?

It just so happened that a former U.S. president by the name of Clinton was in the news at the same time, hosting a "Global Initiative" featuring media top brass such as Rupert Murdoch of News Corporation. Clinton, who had oral sex performed on him by a White House intern not much different in age than his own daughter, might have some relationship to that other news item.

The Post reported the data "indicate that, unlike their parents' generation, many young people-particularly those from middle- and upper-income white families-do not consider oral sex to be serious." But why?

SNIP

Kelly Boggs of the Baptist Press noted, "It was Clinton's escapades with Monica Lewinsky that made oral sex a household topic in 1998. The teens targeted in the NCHS survey were between 8 and 12 years old when the story was being discussed daily on television and radio. There is no doubt that the popularity of the topic at the time, coupled with Clinton's insistence that he did not have sex with Lewinsky, helped to contribute to the attitudes of many of today's teenagers."

OK, you won't find anyone more thoroughly repulsed by Clinton, nor more completely ashamed of his legacy. Given that, why was the Dot Com bubble Bubba's fault?

Because of the green light he gave to corporate fraud. Ever notice all the financial/corporate scandals that exploded onto the scene after GWB became President?

Why is 9/11 Bush's fault? - it ain't - but it is what he will be remembered for...same with Clinton with the dot.coms

Bubba Slick never admitted the blame for anything. He went around the world apologizing but not for what he should have been apologizing for. I doubt we'll ever hear all those apologies he should be making. He doesn't think there's any need for them.

Because of the green light he gave to corporate fraud.

But the Dot Com boom had nothing to do with corporate fraud. I agree that fraud was winked at by the Clinton gang, but the Dot Com thing was a result of venture capitalist and day trader insanity, not corporate fraud.

Dot Com'ers burned through monumental piles of very legitimate venture capital to perpetuate a fanciful charade of business. Individual stock traders threw billions at every Dot Com IPO. It was a house of cards built on a wisp of smoke. There was little fraud, but plenty of greedy foolishness.

That's not what this article suggests. Rather, it speaks to a widespread change in attitude.

This attitude, I believe, has been influenced much more by the media, than by Mr. Clinton. If the people that wanted him impeached so badly, had not made such a public/media frenzied thing out of it, I don't think we would be discussing this topic so much nowadays.

A vast right wing conspiracy?

It was vast, but it wasn't a conspiracy. I was among those wanting him impeached, but in after thought, I realise that making such a big media event over it, was probably wrong. He's been impeached, but I still fail to see any real benefit that was gained by it. Nothing really changed, other than a lot of our country's filthy laundry, got put on display.
