In their national security interests striking isn't an option is they want to survive. If it all goes active Israel should strike immediately and would be right in doing so!

Strategy: Wait for the Iranian populace to overthrow an unpopular government OR risk alienating the populace by foreign intervention to overthrow the government?
To: F14 Pilot
Fire when ready. Just read the article in this weeks Atlantic on A.Q. Khan and his 3 decade effort to obtain the "Muslim bomb." We really failed when we allowed that to happen (we knew all about it as early as the mid-1970's), and we must not allow any other failed state to have such a device. Europe, btw, will do absolutely nothing to help, hell, they were the ones lining up to give Pakistan the bomb, mostly to give the U.S. the finger. If a rogue state does unleash one, I hope it winds up landing in Europe if it has to land somewhere.

"an undisclosed number of F-15 bombers and F-16 fighters"
Recedntly, the Israeli gov't released a ton of info to a US reporter who wrote a book on this raid. As I recall, this info was in the book.

"Israel Maintains Option To Strike Iran Nukes"
And why not?
We have (or should have) learned that you can't deal with terrorist. You can deal with Communists (MAAD, etc.) but you can't negotiate with a person or a group of people so fanatical that they would be eager to die while trying to kill you.
So, if the Iran develope nukes, then it is pretty much assured that Israel won't be able to negotiate a nonaggression treaty. Especially, if Iran give the weapons to their favorite terrorists.
So what alternatives do they have? Pretty much none (IMHO).

"A similar strike against Iran is said to be more than ready, with Israel and the US awaiting the right time and the right place."
Great news! (and a surprise to me.)

"The sources said the Fajr-3 marked an extended range version of the Soviet-origin Katyusha."
I don't understand. I thought the Russians were our allies in the war on terror?

In 2002, a former Iraqi nuclear engineer told a Senate hearing Wednesday that the country could have nuclear weapons by 2005.Is there an editor in the house?

By the time the iranian populace finally starts fighting against the mullahs it could be too late. And they would not only strike Israel and the US, they would probably use them against their own population too.

I agree with you. However, what are the implications with the population that is currently proAmerican if either Israel or the United States preemptively strikes?

I think that Israel feels the same way.
They felt that way in '81. They admitted it. And they said "We're not gonna apologize either".
Israel got castigated in the UN and across the world - but you know what? Secretly, a lot of these countries were happy that the Israelis did what they did. It let them off the hook.

Do it, Israel. If you don't, no one else will.
While the U.S. and other nations wring their hands at the UN, Israel will do what she must. Her very survival is at stake.
