When I was on a TDY at Keesler AFB, back in the jurassic era, I ran into a group of Iranian military types, who were going through our Air Force training schools, and we all hung around together for a week or so. One of these guys was a man called, (and I spell this only from the phonetic memory of 30 years ago), a Mr. Shams Meide [pron. meh' i' dee']. He held the rank of 1st Homofar, which he explained was a technical rank equivalent to somewhere in between our noncommissioned officers and our warrant officers.

Perhaps you would know- whatever happened to those Iranian military, who were unfortunate enough to have sought additional training from the Great Satan, after the fall of the Shah? I would like to think that Mr. Shams fared well, though he and his friends seemed very nervous in 1975. Just for the heck of it- what would you guess his chances were?

Perhaps these men left Iran after the Shah fell. I used to live next door to a former Iranian general who took his family and left.
