October 22, 2005 -- "Commander in Chief" starring Geena Davis as a woman president is one of TV's top shows, but 28 percent of Americans say they're not likely to vote to put any real-life woman in the Oval Office. Men, especially older men, are least receptive — 36 percent of men over 45 turn thumbs down on a woman president — while women under 45 (41 percent) are most enthusiastic, according to a new Marist/WNBC poll yesterday .

I am perfectly receptive to a woman president. Just not one who gets there because she is a woman.

Geena Davis is a liberal whore. That's what men won't vote for. They'd vote for a strong, conservative, attractive woman. Not some pig like Hillary.

It is ignorant and downright scary to equate a Hollywood-scripted TV show to the actual role of President. Reminds me of when Hannity interviews people on the street and they can't name a member of the Supreme Court and yet they are eligible to vote.

That makes Miss Condi--who grew up by "baptism-of-fire" during the Segregation days--a TRUE leader and Strong Force that the GOP just HAS TO nominate fro President '08.

They concocted this tv show to enhance Hillary's chances. It is not going to work, but just imagine the time, effort and money they are devoting to it. How about a tv show with a senator from the South or a congressman from the Midwest fighting the good conservative fight? Think they'll try something like that anytime soon? We don't need Hollywood to elect the next Republican president, as long at he or she is a conservative.

From before the elections till today, I have not met one hard-core democrat male that would vote for Hillary... they are vehemently against it.

I would not vote for a woman under 60 years of age, I don't care what her proposed qualifications were...unless she was the only choice against Hillary, of course.

My wife, who I love dearly, is reasonably conservative but when pressed with a truly difficult choice, she will lean liberal in a heartbeat.

For example, talk about "tough love" on one of the kids and she is right there, ready to go. IMPLEMENT tough love and she starts to get soft..."Oh, he will get a job..lets give him a little more time"

Sorry women... if this sounds unfair, but lets face it. Guys have XY and women have XX. It makes a difference. Most women, when put in a tough spot, will let that second X take over.

I think that an older woman loses a good chunk of that second X (Take Maggie Thatcher as an example) and can be just as tough as a man, but I have yet to see a woman that does not get soft when confronted with an emotional decision.

Might not be as ignorant as it seems... since three of her people are directly involved. We already knew the MSM pushes the lib agenda.

I meant in terms of viewers believing what they see and equating it to actual life but I know what you mean, too, that these people behind the show can manipulate some voters.

I still cannot believe that Snoozer is one of the top rated shows! Someone is manipulating the ratings numbers.

Many women have told me the same thing and have said that they would never vote for a woman. Women are the majority of voters and they decide who will be President, I don't believe women are ready for a woman in the oval office.

The radio station I listen to asked listeners to call in and say whether or not they'd vote for a woman president. Female after female called in and said, "I think all presidents should be female from now on because a woman president would talk things out instead of resorting to violence and we would never, ever go to war again!"

Therefore, I'm inclined to agree with your comments. (Then again, this IS California!)

I'm 62 and I'd vote for a ticket w/ Dr Rice on it but she asserts that she does not want the job. That's why I like her, she's very honest and HIGHLY intelligent. I have often said that I could not understand why any one would want to be President. At the best of times, half the country hates you, at the worst, they all hate you! At any given moment there a dozen or more crazy people planning to take a shot at you. Your life is a goldfish bowl from now on. And the bureaucracy fights you tooth and nail every step of the way.

My position is that a candidate must be a certifiable lunatic or a narcissistic egomaniac to aspire to the position. Neither charrcertistic seem appropriate for a President.

Regards,
GtG

PS I don't know where GW stands, I thought for a while he may have been the "real deal", but he's flubbed the dub too many times of late to be that. Spending like a drunken sailor w/ a three day pass while ignoring border security are just two of my gripes and now the dark horse candidate for the SC is just too much. Maybe Karl is off his feed.

The problem with just about every prominent U.S. female politicians (Pub as well as Dem) is that they are running to have people look at them not -- as Margaret Thatcher did -- to solve a problem.

Condi Rice may be an exception albeit she isn't a pol and she doesn't seem to be running for anything.

While probably a whole lot of male politicians fall in that category too, I think many don't -- especially the conservative ones starting with Dubya and going down the list Delay, Coburn, Santorum, Frist.

I think most of these guys would be happier in private life.

Dr. Rice as Prez would be just like Harriet for the Supremes. We don't know where she stands really, just that as prez she should start to reverse the poor GOP black vote. I agree with the guy who states that women get soft when the going gets tough. Dr. Rice is a great Sec of State.
