Wasn't Brewster-Jennings the front CIA company, if so she should be prosecuted for outing a CIA agent.
The whole point of making a front company is to give the CIA employee a name to give out as an employer rather than saying "The CIA." That's what it's for.
If someone is "covert," it doesn't mean they are hiding in a cave somewhere. It simply means they are pretending to be something they are not.
Making a campaign contribution in her guise as an "energy analyst" for "Brewster-Jennings" is not in the slightest inconsistent with being covert. If she had made the contribution and listed herself as "CIA employee" then that would be inconsistent with her covert status.
She "outs" herself by driving to CIA HQ everyday. She does not "out" herself by making a campaign contribution in her guise of energy analyst, nor by going to Georgetown restaurants or diplomatic parties with her blowhard husband, so long as she tells everyone she meets she is an energy analyst for a Boston firm.

Do you believe she was talking to Judy Miller, Matt Cooper, or knew Bob Novak?
At one point my theory was that perhaps Miller and Plame knew each other from way back, since Miller's beat was WMD and she must have had good sources among the CIA WMD specialists, and therefore Plame might be the original source of the leak info.
However, I now consider that only a remote possibility because Judy Miller's notes mistakenly referred to her as "Valerie Flame" and "Victoria Wilson," and Judy had no reason at the time she wrote those notes to think they would be seen by a grand jury.
On the other hand, I think it very likely that Kristoff, Corn, Pincus and perhaps other journalists did indeed learn of Plame from Joe Wilson's big mouth or from their buddies in the anti-Bush cabal at CIA.
It has a Blaze Starr quality to it.
It would make a good stripper name, wouldn't it?
Of course, most strippers would have too much class to style themselves after Mrs. Wilson.

I have a question.
How does anyone know whether Valerie Wilson, or Valerie Plame is the real name of the woman in question? Couldn't her name be something else and we just wouldn't know?
If she was "covert" at any time, how do we know she is not covert now, under a different name? Or not?
This whole thing could be a giant diversion.

Thanks. Although I didn't state it clearly I mean by the CIA as a whole not just Plame. How much money does the CIA funnel thru covert operatives to candidates.
Besides bypassing all known laws about campaign contributions and giving them and unfair advantage they are using my tax dollars to fund the donations.
