Conservatives launch TV assault on Earle
Ads running in Austin liken the Travis County DA to an attack dog
By R.G. RATCLIFFECopyright 2005 Houston Chronicle Austin Bureau

AUSTIN - A national conservative organization today is launching a television commercial in Austin and nationally comparing Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle to an attack dog because of his prosecution of U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay.

"A prosecutor with a political agenda can be vicious," the ad says over footage of a snarling dog.

The ad, sponsored by the Free Enterprise Fund of Washington, D.C., reminds viewers that Earle, "a liberal Democrat," once tried to prosecute U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, a Republican.

The ad says Earle now is going after DeLay of Sugar Land because he is a Republican, too.

"Bad, Ronnie, bad. It's not a crime to be a conservative," the commercial says.

Sweet.

Interesting. Would that the Republican Party as a whole attack the leftists on a daily basis. Yeah, I know...many of the Republican Reps & Senators would get the vapors and have to be carried to the fainting couch.

I still think that we need to launch a media war against the left.

I strongly agree with you. Too often we are unwilling to play hardball. Too often we sit on our hands and say woe is me. If Miers withdraws or is not confirmed, President Bush should say screw the democrats and send up Robert Bork and should keep sending him up until he is confirmed.

I saw it on TV on the West Coast this morning but didn't catch the channel/Network. Earle was portrayed as a big fat slobbery dog. Let's mace that sucker!

Yeah, I know...many of the Republican Reps & Senators would get the vapors and have to be carried to the fainting couch.

Not to mention Dubya, who accepted full responsibility for the Katrina aftermath rather than lay blame at the feet of the black mayor of New Orleans and the female governor of Louisiana, where it rightfully belonged.

The whole point of federalism is that local governments are the first-responders to local emergencies.

Bork is 78.

He still has a great mind. If he wasn't available, I would send up Jesse Helms. We control the White House, the Senate and the House. We can send up whoever we want to. Screw the democrats. It is time to start acting like winners not losers.

I always like the way, when a conservative questions something or someone, it's an "attack", or an "assault" or some such.
And when Clinton was in office, whenever he would open his mouth, the press would say or print -"WHite House says..", or "US says"- but with Bush, it's always-- "Bush says". Never "the President, or U.S., etc".
And now, I take my leave of you... Where were the buses!?? Where were the gub-mint buses!!!?

Given that you seem to prefer geriatrics, you shouldn't be anywhere near "sending up" anybody.

We control ... the Senate

I'll disagree. The democrats have 5 - 7 votes on the Republican side that they can count on if they really need them to defeat the conservative agenda.

Finally!!!! I'm glad to see that SOME conservatives are starting to fight back!!! We have kow-towed to liberal tactics for too long and we are way overdue for joining them in their gutter and fighting back using their dirty tactics.

And we should be outing them at every chance we get. We should find good conservatives and spend as much money in the primaries to remove the RINOS.
