Media Daily News ^ | 10-31-05 | Ross Fadner

IT'S OFFICIAL: 2005 WILL BE the newspaper industry's worst year since the last ad industry recession. And things aren't looking much better for next year either, according to a top Wall Street firm's report on newspaper publishing. "Sadly, 2005 is shaping up as the industry's worst year from a revenue growth perspective since the recession impacted 2001-2002 period," says the report from Goldman Sachs, adding a warning that meaningful growth in 2006 is "very unlikely."

And this is a bad thing because.....

Because the damage hits small conservative papers more than it hits the biggies, and much of the good hard reporting that is analyzed by bloggers still comes from the sources already in place. Conservatives have been active in instituting pajamadeen analysis, but not in getting a good unbiased front-line reporting network in place. :-(

the race baiters
the poverty pimps
the landfills full of newspaper pulp
The poor antimilitary, antiamerican moonbat left portrayed as mainstream
The antichristian
Socialist, communist, anarchist, anticapitalist
economically illiterate
and gramatically incorrect.

Why would anyone pay money for the fishwrap these print "journalists" produce when one can get not only their biased bs but real news on the net for free?

I've seen precious little of this
Good, unbiased reporting will not return until
The newspapers are hit where they live, advertising income

It's W's fault, another reason I TRUST him.

Be careful. Trusting politicians is for the feebleminded and Russians. After all, just look what he does or tries to do when he thinks we're not paying attention.

Distinguish between propaganda and reporting?
Heck, they can't even distinguish between news and advertising!

"Newspapers have EARNED their decline by being biased and out of touch and arrogant. There's more good, timely and important stuff on FR than in the nation's top ten papers every day."

You, my friend, have a very clear mind.

Couldn’t agree more!

"Sadly, 2005 is shaping up as the industry's worst year from a revenue growth perspective since the recession impacted 2001-2002 period..."

At a time when the economy as a whole is growing at 4% a year in spite of two category-5 hurricanes within a month.

HOW CAN THIS BE????

I always thought it ironic that newspapers -Playboy--Time--Newsweek etc etc continually bashed the big corporations and business that they rely for advertising revenue

And I always wondered why businesses continued to advertise in them

Darn he's not trustworthy and I voted for him. Maybe you and the Kerry supporters were right. /sarcasm

I have taken to referring to news papers as "news paupers" which, I hope, is where they are heading...
