I was reading about the eagles at the link I posted to you.

I was aware of their protected status, but I was surprised to learn that even to pick up and keep an eagle feather that has fallen to the ground is against the law.

While I admire and respect that most noble bird, I found that to be just a bit extreme.

Growing up in Virginia as a boy, I still remember an eagle's nest at the top of a tall tree at Lake Smith.It was such a treat to see an eagle land there or take off.They are so magnificent in flight.

I have lived in Virginia since 1958, with only two short periods out of state. I have to admit I don't know where Smith Lake is. I do know where Smith Mountain Lake is.
