Internet political 'scam' eyed (MD4Bush - FR Mentioned)
Washington Times ^ | 11/10/05 | S.A. Miller

Posted on 11/09/2005 11:58:30 PM PST by conservative in nyc

Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.'s chief legal counsel yesterday called on Democratic leaders to investigate newly exposed ties between the state Democratic Party and an Internet chat room visitor who apparently orchestrated a "dirty tricks" campaign to smear the administration.

Chief Counsel Jervis S. Finney said Democrats appear to have been players in a "scam" to discredit Mr. Ehrlich, a Republican.

The involvement of a Democratic operative "certainly takes it a step further and it would seem the so-called Special Committee [on Employee Rights and Protections] and the Maryland Democratic Party should seek at last to find the final truth," Mr. Finney said.

His comments follow revelations by the owner of the conservative Web site FreeRepublic.com that someone with a Maryland Democratic Party e-mail address was a chat room visitor known as MD4Bush.

"It is quite obvious that this is a political hit orchestrated by someone with ties to the Democratic Party," said Kristinn Taylor, spokesman for FreeRepublic.com.

Mr. Taylor said MD4Bush had a Maryland Democratic Party e-mail address, which ends with the domain name "mddems.org."

He declined to identify the user's full name or e-mail name, citing privacy rights. But he said his company is exploring legal options that would permit the disclosure of the user's name.

Josh White, executive director of the Maryland Democratic Party, said he was not concerned with discovering the identity of MD4Bush or whether one of his workers was responsible for baiting Mr. Steffen into discussing rumors.

He also said he did not believe the information provided by FreeRepublic.com.

"I don't think anyone should take [seriously] the work of a right-wing Web site whose only concern is to re-elect Governor Ehrlich," Mr. White said, adding that Mr. Ehrlich was the one who had run "dirty tricks campaigns."

The Washington Times also mentions that Ehrlich Chief Counsel Jarvis Finney sent the Special Committee e-mail message that Finney said "implicates Ryan O'Doherty, a former state Democratic Party spokesman, in the MD4Bush scheme". This is the same pre-Washington Post article e-mail mentioned in WBAL's recent reporting.

As usual, more at the link.

I am wondering how many other Demrat 'tricksters' are in place; doing their dirty work. . .whatever it happens to be. . .as we prepare for the 'next elections' and the next after that. . .

Love the defensive. . .'offense' on behalf of MD4Bush:

I don't think anyone should take [seriously] the work of a right-wing Web site whose only concern is to re-elect Governor Ehrlich," Mr. White said, adding that Mr. Ehrlich was the one who had run "dirty tricks campaigns.

Wish Repubs could be so quick. . .

Oh, that can't be. Republicans are so intolerant, you know, it would never be possible for a wonderful liberal infiltrator to exist.

Meanwhile, in Liberal Land everyone is in such lock step, goose stepping, frothing lunacy that the slightest hint of dissent is crushed immediately.

Where did Kristin get this information?

Jim Robinson released a statement the other day to WBAL-TV saying that MD4Bush's account was associated with an mddems.org e-mail, which was not a coincidence.

The fact that the Maryland Democrat Party is responsible for MD4BUSH is BREAKING HARD. Maryland RATS should be ashamed of themselves.

Just love how they deliberately refer to the illegal postings as having been done in a 'chat room'.

Freepmail is not a 'chat room'.

It's for PRIVATE conversation.

Josh isn't concerned with discovering a hero?

November 2, 2005

"We have no knowledge of who MD4BUSH is," White said. The governor "should stop chasing a hero and start apologizing to the people of Maryland because Joe Steffen said he did it."

I didn't. I only said the mddems.org e-mail domain is associated with the MD4BUSH account--the same thing I've told other reporters as authorized by Jim. The Times reporter had a real hard time comprehending what I was saying yesterday. He and The Times are woefully behind the curve on this story.

"Maryland RATS should be ashamed of themselves."

Which unfortunately...they won't. The only advantage this scandal brings, is potentially giving Duncan some ammunition against O'Malley, and thereby insuring a nasty primary. I'm still assuming O'malley's people were behind this.

I still think we should question Matthew Mosk's relationships with the democrats in Annapolis. Grandfather was a liberal California supreme court judge, the family has been politically active on the left. Mosk lives in Annapolis, and may very well know the players personally. If O'Doherty is the guilty party, he may very well have given the FR sign in info to Mosk under the guise of being the "third party".

MD4BUSH is an internet version of Mary Mapes.

Both lied and used fraud to create a so called news story.

Mapes got fired, and if the MD rat party had a shred of decency, they would out MD4BUSH and fire he/she/it.

Then they would give a big donation to Free Republic as a token payment for the sham they created.

Last, but not least, the Compost should do the same to its scumbags involved in this criminal venture. If the NY Slimes can fire Jayson Blair for lying and making up news, the Compost should at least have that level of integrity.

However, nothing will happen as the MD Rats and the Compost are totally amoral, and they will do anything to insure political victory for their side.

Was happy to see a story about this in the Washington Times but they didn't tell the whole story. I'm not sure why this is so difficult to understand.

Ehrlich should never have fired Stefan. He should have read the emails and he would have seen that it was MD4Bush who did the dirty deed. Of course, we never stick up for our people.

Since the RAT party is know implying that Mr. Robinson is a liar, he should give all info he has to Gov. Ehrlich. It is time the lying, crooked RATS in this state were put in their place. I hope this happens but they have to much cover around here. Will keep my fingers crossed.

Well, Josh White and all his comrades in the Maryland DemocRAT Party were singing a different tune back in February, when their pal, MD4BUSH, had planted rumors and discussed them with NCPAC online. They wanted everyone to take FR seriously then; because they thought that they had pulled a fast one.

Cheaters never win.

Excellent! I'd love to see this thing continue into next year. I fear though it may be breaking a bit too early to still have legs by next "election season". Here's to hoping I'm wrong though!

As a side note, I wish all these news organizations would stop saying FR is a "chat room". It's soooo NOT a "chat room". LOL Ugh!!!!!! It just goes to show how those in the "old media" really don't understand the Internet and what it has to offer these days.

Given the amount of time it has taken me to put together the primer, I understand why the MD4Bush saga would be difficult to someone who hasn't been watching to understand. It's not conducive to a one or two sentence explanation. And I've read most (if not all) of the stories written about the subject and am familiar with how Free Republic works. Your average reporter is not.

Josh White declared MD4Bush to be a "hero". Why doesn't Mr. White want to find out the identity of MD4Bush and recognize his heroic actions?
