When hundreds of Los Angeles high school students told administrators they planned to walk out of school to attend last week's protest by the liberal "World Can't Wait" group calling for President Bush's impeachment the L.A. school district decided not to discipline them. Instead, the district provided school buses and a staff escort to transport some 800 students from 10 schools to the rally and back. School officials said students would attend the protest with or without their permission, and the district's chief operating officer told KNBC, "Our issue...was safety, and I think we fulfilled our mission."

An abuse and misuse of school funds.
I want to know if they'd bus 800 students to a pro-life rally.
Unbelievable
Not an appropriate use of school busses. Let the kids find their own rides if they want to go so bad. I'm not paying school taxes to support political activities.
What a crock.....like "it's for the chillllren...."
I hope those kids NEVER leave LA.....don't know how they could handle life without the schools watching out for them.
ahhh ... school buses... easily utilized when they need to get peeps to an anti-bush rally... but IMPOSSIBLE to utilize for getting peeps out of harms way (Katrina)!!
Thank GOD these kids are too stupid to vote.
They could never figure out the voting machines.
A day out of School is still a day out of school.
You are now.
Gee, I could have tied up buses and staff a lot if they had provided it to me every time I skipped school.
The Indoctrination Centers. Sorry, my mistake, I mean "public schools," have already moved on way past "Hate Bush" and "Hate Schwartzenwatzit" and way on to hate everyone else except the "Michael Moore" and Howard Dean" clones.
I mean, get with the times Fox News.
Note that this is 800 students.
Did they sign releases? Were their parents notified?
This misuse of school funds schould result in firing the entire chain of command responsible.
Of course, we are talking about a state where you need to get parental permission to go to a tanning salon, but not for an abortion, and the people are all for it, so what the heck.
Glad I left. Or rather "moved right".
Lucky me.
It doesn't matter anymore. "Der kommansars" (aka the 9th Circuit Court) have ruled that you don't have much say over what your kids are taught in government schools now.
If my kids pulled this crap, I'd just write 'em off.
We did our due diligence.
I have ZERO patience with my children's generation of lack of respect for anything other than sex, and sex, and drugs.
Fortunately, our kids are pretty straight. No piercings, tattoos, rap music, or funky behavior. Amazing what focussed business majors can do...
bump
The backwards a$$ lefties that make up 55% of this state just voted for another $4 billion dollars of indebtedness for the LAUSD, which itself is a sty of socialists and pro-palestinian whores.
At 36 my crusty old father would still beat the snot out of me for attending one of these protests. Then he would make me pay him back for all of the school that he paid for.
