The war in Iraq: No, Mr. Murtha We have immense respect for Jack Murtha, the 16-term U.S. congressman representing Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District. Our repeated endorsements of the Johnstown Democrat are testament to that.
Mr. Murtha has been a consistent champion for a strong military. And when this decorated Vietnam War veteran speaks, people listen to the ex-Marine who now is the ranking Democrat on the House Defense Appropriations subcommittee.
Friend and foe alike.
And that's why we have such serious concerns about what Mr. Murtha, who voted for the war in Iraq in 2002, had to say about it last week. He called for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops. "The war in Iraq is not going as advertised," he said. "It is flawed policy wrapped in illusion."
The United States must pursue stability in Iraq "politically and diplomatically," Murtha added.
With terrorists?
Had we our druthers, this nation would have worked harder and longer to contain and isolate Saddam Hussein without war....snip.... But we are at war...snip
Cut-and-run talk surely has emboldened terrorists operating in Iraq; actually tucking tail now surely would hand the forces of terror a great victory perhaps from which the world could not recover.
The time will come for American forces to leave a free, democratic and stable Iraq. With all due respect to Jack Murtha, that time is not now.

Fight the tyranny in the White House! Fight it in the streets, in the air, on land and at sea. Fight in the trenches and in the shopping malls. Never give up and never surrender!
:) HA!
I read today that people in his district love what he is saying.
Good post, ss.
Has a Real American stepped up to the plate and announced he/she is running against Congressman Surrender Murtha?
If they love what he is saying then they are stuck on stupid, aren't they?
Then how will they take his failure to vote for immediate withdraw last night?
"I read today that people in his district love what he is saying."
So they love the idea of us surrendering to the terrorists, hightailing it out of there. leaving the Iraquis who trusted us to a bloodbath, formation of countless terror camps in Iraq, and then us having to return and do it all over again.
Zarqawi and bin laden join them in their love for Murtha!
once again it has been shown that the biggest ally of
al queda is the democrat party.
"I read today that people in his district love what he is saying."
Where did you read that?
I live in his district, and that's not what I'm hearing.
I guess it's fine to support a strong military, but when the time came to actually use it, his smoldering case of VietNam Syndrome kicked up and he lost his nerve.
Jack Murtha has the blight, and he is no hawk. His display of histrionic emotionalism on the floor of the House was disgusting and embarrassing. He is a wannabe General McClelland--Dress up his army and march it all around but make sure nobody gets hurt--and nothing worthwhile gets done.
what are you hearing??
Before Friday, it would have taken dynamite to blast him out of his seat. Now, my guess is, he might be wise to retire.
if you want to consider their fellow journalist as goat entrails, this may be a common practice.
If you will, when you get some "juicy" feedback from your area, flag me to the post...
Really it must be true if you said you read it!
I read today that zinc will increase your sperm count by 500%!
Don't believe everything you read.
