Demonstrators plan to gather outside fort’s Main Gate today (Leftist Loosers Stock on Stupid)

SIERRA VISTA — For the second year in a row, Fort Huachuca will be the site of a protest by demonstrators who say the Intelligence Center on the post educates soldiers in torture procedures.

According to an e-mail received by the Herald/Review, “The United States is responsible for using torture and training other governments in the most modern methods of torture.”

That comment was part of the nexus organizers of this year’s protest outside the fort’s Main Gate implying torture is part of training at the Intelligence Center.

Post officials have continually denied any torture procedures are taught at the center. In the past, they have opened the training program to media, bringing in national, state and local outlets.

Today’s protest is part of a coordinated action that began years ago against the then U.S. Army School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Ga., which is now called the Northern Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation.

Fort Huachuca officials are closing the Main Gate to the post from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today due to the planned demonstration.

Traffic will be rerouted to the East Gate, where temporary passes will be issued if needed, according to the post.

The event, being called the Second Annual Vigil, protests links between training at the fort and happenings in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Demonstrators are expected to come throughout Arizona to take part in the demonstration, which they have scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The planned site for the protest is the northeast corner of Fry Boulevard and Buffalo Soldier Trail.

During last year’s event, there were some counter protesters who spoke in support of the post. Although voices were raised by the two groups, no major conflict occurred.

This year protests are planned at Fort Huachuca, Fort Benning, New York City, Tucson and Georgia State University from today through Jan. 6.

Was there, Freeping, took Pictures on my Digital CD-350 by Sony, came home finalized the images and the CD was damaged. End No photos.

There were two Like us at the Widows Center across from the DUs, 4 - 5 at the flower shop like us, 2 of Sierra Vista's finest, a local reporter and a local photog for the reporter and the DUs had about 30 - 35. Drivers as they passed greeted the DUs appropriately with the magic widget digit wave.

Signs claimed 300,000 civilians dead 2,000 military dead War Criminals. It's avbout the Oil Give Peace a Chance

You name the peace nik crap signs and they had them. Nothing of the extremely vile stuff though.

There were a few insults hurled by the DUs through BULL horns early on til one of the men in Blue went over and POLITELY told him to knock it off. A couple of weak attempts after that but they stopped as soon as the LOON say one of the patrolmen starting to move in the loons direction.

Age wise they were either old enough to have done the same crap protesting Vietnam or young enough that they should have been trying to line up a date for the Thanksgiving Holiday H.S. Saturday nite dance.

I was weary of them by 1967! Since then they've only succeeded to become like the sound of Rosanne Barr trying to sing on my nerves and ears.

Thanks for being there, I'm sure that you had a hundred other things you would rather have been doing on a Sunday morning but you chose well.

Any signs or banners on our side?

An American Flag, Undesicrated with the footprint of the American Chicken, A sign reading We Support our President and our Troops. At least three of our side were interviewed by the reporter so perhaps we can read what they said in tomorrow's paper and on FR.

I'm angry and dissapointed that the CD with the images crapped out (?????) there were some goodies on there.

I wish I could have been there. I love giving a piece of my mind to the antiAmerican scumbags. End torture!? I would have told them that we did that when we removed Saddam Hussein from power. I would remind them that I never once saw any of them protesting Saddam throwing people into wood chippers, Saddam's rape rooms, etc. I would have worn the batteries in my bullhorn out giving them hell. But, it was on a Sunday and I just don't do that kind of thing on the Sabbath.

I'm so happy to see that there were some who could stand up to those bastards and counter their seditious protest.

I am so sorry to hear about your photos being lost but the important thing is that you were there. God bless you for it and all the good people who showed up to support our fine Military.

Thank you SandRat! The military campaign in Iraq has accomplished so much over there in the last couple of weeks. But I fear we are losing ground here at home - you are helping in a big way to turn that around.

Think we need to prepare for them for next year and organize to really show them how outnumbered they really are.

I'll help organize, make signs, and even lend my bullhorn. But if its on a Sunday, you'll have to go without me.

They always pick the weekend before Thanksgiving. Last year is was Sat and this Sun perhaps next year it will be Sat again.

Unless they picked Sun Morning just to not have us there knowing that the bulk of us would still be at Church. That adds an entirely new dimension to the equation.

Here's hoping they won't have much to demonstrate against by this time next year.
