WITCHES and pagans yesterday cursed the Bracks Government for asking all Victorian schools to celebrate Christmas with carols, nativity scenes and other Christian traditions.

But the Government's decree has been strongly supported and welcomed by schools and religious leaders.

The Pagan Awareness Network said several pagan parents had raised concerns their children were being forced to sing hymns and carols in school assemblies against their will.

PAN president David Garland said the Government should include all religions in the festive season, not just Christianity.

"Australia is a multicultural society," he said. "End-of-year celebrations are one thing, but carols and nativity plays reflect only one religious viewpoint."

Mr Garland said most pagans celebrated Christmas as a secular holiday by giving gifts and having lunch with their families.

"There's nothing religious about it - and I suspect that's true for the majority of Australians these days," he said.

The Herald Sun yesterday revealed Premier Steve Bracks had asked all schools to celebrate Christmas with Christian traditions this year.

The move came after several schools and kindergartens last year banned Christmas celebrations for fear they would offend non-Christian children.

Education Minister Lynne Kosky said yesterday a message would be sent to all Victorian schools today asking them to get into the Christmas spirit.

"We are informing schools and kindergartens they will be asked to celebrate Christmas as part of all the celebrations they have," she said.

Ms. Kosky said while most non-Christian students would enjoy learning about the Christmas tradition, those who did not want to take part would be able to participate in other activities at school instead.

Victorian Principals Association president Fred Ackerman said: "It is a whole lot of fun. Far be it for any of us to deny the fun of gift giving, Santa visits and Christmas carols."

But he said students should also be encouraged to learn about other religious festivities.

Ruthven Primary School principal Chris Sexton said they would celebrate Christmas.

"There is a Christmas tree in the art room with fairy lights as we speak," he said.

You know I have friends who are Pagan/Wiccans.... they would never cast a Curse for any reason.... one of their beliefs is that you reap what you sow..... or something called the threefold law...I think..... some thing about what you send forth returning threefold? Not really sure. But if thats the case then these folks are not only stupid they are suicidal.... if it works that is.....

There are two kinds of witches...those who rarely do evil, and those who make a business of it.

Witches worship nature. They believe nature has given them all that is necessary to live and that there is a supernatural component to life. They abhor "God" and put themselves in the center of the universe.

Once you get to that point of view, the only thing that prevents you from being a "bad" witch is your own human nature. In other words, the 3x thing sounds good when life is going OK, but when someone does you harm, you get the urge to bring 3x upon them.

Witches use nature to create supernatural effects.

For example, someone pisses you off. You go out into the woods and gather some poison oak leaves. You dry them, grind them, and disburse them all over the seat of his car.

3X

If he does something really wrong... you go out and select a particular type of bug, remove its abdomen and collect about 100 of them. You mix that with a fraction of a particular type of mold or mushroom, and manage to get it into their food.

For some odd reason, six months later, they get liver cancer.

They are not working for God when they do this stuff. They are working for the other force.. the bad one.

A biblical definition of a witch is one who leads you astray from believing God. Balaam, therefore, can be considered a witch because he told King Balak how to cause Israel to stumble by introducing the false God Baal. Thus Balaam caused Israel to turn from believing God to a false idol.

Thus, the problem is not that a witch may try magic, but that in doing so, she or he promotes the idea that you do not need God in your life and that you can rely on yourself. The scriptures say "Cursed is the man who relies on man". Only by relying on the savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, can one be delivered from the curse of sin and death.

The realm of paganism has many different groups just like Christianity and while many call ourselves witches we DO NOT worship nature--we believe in a Goddess and a God. We do not abhor God and see ourselves as the center of any universe conversely we see ourselves dependent upon nature.
As to being a "bad"or Black witch yes that is a personal choice--but the witches law reminds us that whatever we send out comes back times three fold. Also the witches rede says harm to none including yourself.Witches do NOT use nature to create supernatural effects--we use what nature has provided--oils,herbs,minerals,and water to create "magic" No we don't wave wands and do Hollywood magic. And one other thing we do NOT believe in Satan so it is impossible to worship something you don't believe in.There are some misguided people who call themselves satanists--they are Not repersenative of all Pagans. We also believe in tolerance of others religions--unlike Christians who want to preach and condemn anyone who does not toe their line.So please get your facts straight before you condemn others remember your god said "judge not least ye be judged." I do not believe the group in Australia who did this curse were true witches--so I agree with you on that issue.

Glad to hear you are not practicing dark magic.

However, to assume that others who share your profession do not find themselves falling to their natural human desire for vengeance upon those who do them harm... well, that is naive.

not naive--been doing this a long time most witches i know and correspond with will not break the witches laws--yes we are human and all get angry or want revenge but the real magic is creating a change in yourself to let all that go. witches can respond out of defense.I know that a minority but a visiable and vocal minority has caused the blanket of evil doer to be cast over all witches--so no not naive just very educated in my path. Hope you have a happy thanksgiving and happiness as you walk you lifes path. Bright Blessings to ye.

It sounds like the witch's laws (who wrote them anyway?) are designed to harness the selfish nature of humanity and use it to drive selfless behavior.

One could argue that Judeo/Christian faith does the same thing.

The big difference, is that Judeo/Christian faith is based upon the spirituality of human life, and that the physical life is simply a training ground for eternal spiritual life.

From what I have seen, the wiccan faith is more caught up with the physical world and eternal spiritual existence would be a means to remain within that physical world.

If you ever read the Bible, you will learn that when Satan separated from God, he was thrust into the physical world. This turns out to be OK for him because he loves the physical world and wants it to be his own for eternity. (When I say he, I wonder if the term 'she' might be more appropriate? I have always wondered if Satan took a female persona...)

Anyway, there are good people who are caught up in the world and separate themselves from God. For them, it is unfortunate because they are missing the gift that was given to them by God himself. Jesus came to demonstrate totally selfless love which was not "doing good to get 3x good back upon yourself", but rather, true selflessness. He left the world willingly to demonstrate that pain and suffering in the physical world don't matter and that being with God does. He showed the way.

Like I said, I am glad that you are not practicing the dark stuff. Perhaps it is a minority that do that, but they do generate a strong negative image. For you, that goodness might bring you 3x good in this world, but unfortunately, I believe it gives you zilch in the eternal spiritual world beyond as you will be separated from God and that is where it is at.

I must interject that this public display of displeasure by this Pagan group only betrays a deep undercurrent of negative energy in your culture. The Scriptures forbid us Christians from cursing others and constrains us to bless them only. I predict that nothing will come of this curse to the authorities, but the witches will experience the novel effect of having their curse multiplied back them according to their own law. Cursing the Creator's appointed authorities is futile and dangerous to oneself.
