November 30, 2005 -- WASHINGTON At a time when many Republicans have political jitters, Rudy Giuliani is kicking off his push to help the GOP keep control of Congress in the 2006 elections with a big New York fund-raiser Dec. 12.
It's a $5,000-a-ticket cash-bash at Club Havana on Fifth Avenue to benefit seven Republicans facing potentially tough House re-election bids.

He needs to be raising his own money for a Senate run in 2006 against Hillary Clinton.
This is what prospective presidential candidates do.
One does not preclude another. Besides, he is highly numerate.
He has no interest in the Senate. His eyes are fixed on much bigger game.
Who knows - your're probably right. I'm sure they all are doing that. McCain, Giuliani - Pataki just hired Bush 41's money man yesterday.
And his only hope for winning the GOP primary is to first defeat Hillary in 2006. He's never won anything outside of NYC. He needs to prove himself electorally, and slaying the Beast would be the only way.
"And his only hope for winning the GOP primary is to first defeat Hillary in 2006."
If he wins the Senate in 2006, he's out of Presidential politics until 2012.
If he wins the Senate in 2006, he's out of Presidential politics until 2012.Kerry had just won his election two years before running for President. And Hillary plans to run in exactly the same races. Why can't Rudy?
"Kerry had just won his election two years before running for President."
Kerry had also been in the Senate almost 20 years.
Rudy would be a freshman. The dynamics are a bit different.
I predict he is going to be the VP candidate.
Maybe Rudy has seen what pansy-a$%ed Republicans we have in the senate and worse how many lying, traitorous democrats are also there and doesn't want to have to go to work every day with these creeps. Would you? Rudy is more of a top manager type and the senate is a bar-brawl (Kennedy tends the bar himself, you know!)
That would be good. He would be a good VP candidate.
"The dynamics aren't different when both candidates intend to run for president in 2 years, which brings me to point out that you conspicuously avoided addressing this issue in regard to Hillary."
She will have the (paper-thin) advantage of having completed one full term as Senator if she tries it.
If she loses in 2006, she's not a candidate in 2008--or, in all likelihood, 2012. If she wins, and is really ambitious, she can run in 2008--but I assess her probability of winning the nomination under those circumstances to be very low.
If Rudy runs and loses in 2006, he's not a candidate in 2008. If he wins in 2006, he's not a candidate in 2008. If he does neither, he has a very low chance of winning the nomination in 2008.
One thing to keep an eye on: look for McCain to push for something Christian conservatives really care about.
I have a soft spot for Rudy because he's resolute on the WOT and not out to stab the President in the back with shifting polling winds. He's the only Liberal Republican I respect.
Like many, I think, there is this wish he was more conservative in other arenas. As he's not, we're left still searching for a strong Conservative representative in '08 that can be trusted on both the WOT and Judiciary. Plus other issues.
Unless the primary is stacked with McCain's and Hagle's, I won't be voting for Rudy in the primary. The difference, is that I would vote for him because of the WOT in the General where I would not do so for Mccain or hagel. But I don't think he'll make it to the General. I'm still hopeful a conservative will step up deserving of the nomination.
I don't think most Christian conservatives will forget what McCain really thinks about them if he suddenly decides to back something they would like to see passed.
Does anybody know who the 7 Republicans are that Rudy is raising $ for?
He can win that bigger prize if and only if he can convince a few well connected evangelicals that he will appoint the same type of judges that W has.
the james dobsons, ralph reeds and pat robertsonsIf he does this it is our best chance for pretning Klintoon II
Maybe some leadership will finally show up and fight back against the dims.
" predict he is going to be the VP candidate."
