After insisting the pre-emption of Hal Lindsey's television show had nothing to do with content, a Trinity Broadcasting Network spokesman retracted his statement, admitting officials were concerned, at least secondarily, about offending Arabs and Muslims.
As WorldNetDaily reported, John Casoria, general counsel for the network, responded yesterday to Lindsey's contention that the weekly program "International Intelligence Briefing" had been cancelled for December, and possibly permanently, because its message was deemed "too pro-Israel and too anti-Muslim."
Casoria initially replied, "That is absolutely, 100 percent false."
But now, after talking with network programming officials, he says a secondary reason for pre-empting the show was that it "placed Arabs in a negative light."
The overwhelming reason, he still insists, is TBN requires all its programming during December to have a Christmas theme.
"When a programmer chooses not to do so, they are pre-empted so that TBN can focus its attention on the holidays," Casoria said. "Hal is very well aware of this."
...But Lindsey told WND this was the first time he had been pre-empted for the entire month of December, noting his program previously had been replaced only the week before Christmas.

They need to be more balanced since everyone knows the press in muslim dominated cultures is extremely balance.
Why didn't TBN come out at first and say that the reason that Hal's show was pre-empted was because of the December Christmas theme requirement, and because they felt his show placed Arabs in a negative light?
Why all the revisions, or as one could say, retractions?
Interesting that it was "general counsel" and not the "general manager" or "programming director" that addressed this issue.
I smell litigation or the threat thereof.
For Pete's sake, the Arabs placed themselves in a negative light.
Maybe TBN ought to consider how it is offending Christians by broadcasting health and wealth gospel entertainment shows.
It seems to me TBN would put Hal on more at Christmas time, since his show after all is centered on Christ's return.
Does TBN still have people with stuffed suits and purple hair?
Take a look at this video clip of Paul Crouch, founder of TBN

Zola is probably next. His contempt for Muslims (not Arabs) is pretty blatant. I used to read his monthly newsletter for articles on Jewish and Christian themes and Bible teaching. Since 9-11, all that sort of thing is mostly gone, and it has turned into pretty much a non-stop screed against Muslims, and a re-hash of articles and cartoons most of his readers have probably already seen elsewhere. He is free to do as he likes of course, but to me he has moved far away from Christian teaching, and has become mostly political and "of the world."
Shouldn't Zola and Hal focus on preaching the Gospel to Muslims?
And I imagine Al-Jazeera is leading the way.
I have watched Zola here and there in the past few months and have not seen pretty much a non-stop screed of Muslims. I have seen programming that deals with the Temple, its restoration, topics about Old Testament books, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and other things.
Any suggestions on how to preach the gospel to Muslims since you can easily be executed for doing so?
Fear of CAIR. Until people grow some spines and say, "Let them sue. I don't care what they think." Nothing will change. PS., I bet Al-Jazzera doesn't worry about who they offend!
'They' always get rid of the prophets. Just check the Old Testament.
So TBN gets caught in a lie. No surprise here. It's all about money to them.
mark.
I was flipping through the channels last night. And did my eyes deceive me, or was that actually Victoria Jackson, formerly of SNL on TBN?
Maybe they heard their was a tinfoil shortage out there.
