I'm sure we had plenty of plans to Nuke them too. In fact I know we did, since I helped put together the mission folders for flight crews to use in implementing those plans. Of course those were not in the context of a European War, but rather a Global Thermonuclear War.

BTW, did y'all know there's a city or town in what is now Uzbekistan, but was then part of the Evil Empire/Soviet Union, called "Nukus". I didn't either, until one day in about '84 or '85.....

It provided a good laugh to break up what was otherwise a not very funny task.

Thanks for the combat mission folders. I was one of your customers. The Soviets didn't invade Europe because it wouldn't have remained a European war. It would have resulted in full-scale retaliation on the Soviet Union -- as President Kennedy told the world in so many words during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
