I was in the Cav (Armored Cavalry for you civilians) back in the early 80's. We visited the border near Fulda and I remember the difference between the "border" and "city" Germans. It was night and day.

I never forgot that their fathers and grandfathers had tried to kill my father and family when they occupied Greece and dad fought them in North Africa. I will never trust the Europeans. Most I ever met hate America.

"...the border near Fulda.

The infamous Fulda Gap. I knew it well.

Kinda harsh for an American one generation removed from Europe, isn't it?

If we would have gotten into a fight with the Russians, the Western Europeans would have backed out. Russia was going to wait until NATO was gone before starting WWIII, and would have not attacked Western Europe.

If we would have ever went to war with the USSR, they would not have fought us in Europe. Rather, they wanted to go to war with us over here.
