Apparently I have people misreading what I wrote. I would call anyone spectacularly imploding by their own hand after a promising career a "shame." The fact that a lot of the info you cite proves that he should never HAVE been in public office to begin with. At no point did I ever infer the man was a victim of anyone other than his own character and psychological deficiencies.

I have no sympathy for him, he deserved being recalled.

However, if he had cried sexual discrimination, like a certain New Jersey Governor did last year, he might still be Mayor. Glad he didn't, good riddance.

.....it's truly a shame what happened to West.

This doesn't just "happen". A person makes choices every hour of every day (if your'e on the outside). J W made some incorrect choices over a period of time. He used the prestige and privilege of his office to obtain ...... ......
I'll say no more, other than to comment that he was, apparently, very curious to see what half-Scandinavian pups woud look like.

NW News Channel interviewed somebody from the newspaper after the vote and asked if 178 articles was excessive.

If the paper has left leanings there, I'm sure if the Mayor was a Dem it would be buried in the paper.

You know, I have referred to 170+ articles in another thread. I must admit I just read it in the P. I.. Did the Spokesman-Review do that many articles?....
I haven't looked at them since they went pay-to-view.

No question... that was the point. Somebody that we all thought was a good guy had turned out to be very badly flawed.

Unfortunate and sad, that, in its own way.

178? Sheesh.

I'm surprised that the media (or at least those who still have ethics) haven't been wringing their hands about this. The paper went way beyond reporting the news, into making the news. I can't think of any other precedent for this, where a newspaper acted like undercover cops.

Let's say you're a reporter and you hear again and again that the mayor is trolling for teen boys in a gay website, and that he has even offered them jobs in his administration. You can't publish such serious allegations without proof, so you go to the gay website and wait for the mayor to hit on you. I wouldn't call it entrapment, and I think the newspaper did a public service by letting the people know that the mayor was a pervert.

"The guy would do better in the 48th perhaps. :)"

Not if he favored immigration by undocumented teenage gay boys. : )

Did he also offer the pooch a city job?

I gotta disagree. Plenty of mayors have done plenty of corrupt things. And newspapers may not have had solid proof on these corrupt things, but they didn't set up sting operations to trip up the politicians. This is completely unprecedented, and would not have happened if this politician were a Democrat.

Very nice. Bone-smuggler mayor uses work computer to access gay websites and offer govt. jobs for sex. What could go wrong?

He should have had the decency to resign. It's important to remember, West was investigated and recalled because he misused his public office for sexual favors, not because of any purely private activity.
