The renowned chairman of Harvard’s epidemiology department has been moonlighting for Anheuser-Busch — traveling to events across the country touting the “health” benefits of swigging beer.

Stampfer’s next stop on the party train was a beer tasting luncheon scheduled for tomorrow at Boston’s upscale Radius restaurant — but he abruptly canceled late yesterday.

While studies claim that moderate drinking — two drinks a day — can lower the risk of heart disease and reduce the risk of stroke and diabetes, substance abuse counselors say cheerleading the benefits of booze sends the wrong message, especially around the stress-filled holidays.

According to tomorrow’s Anheuser-Busch invite, Stampfer had planned to chat about the health benefits of alcohol based on several studies and the “many ways moderate alcohol consumption may be consistent with a healthy lifestyle.”

Provided that he was sticking to information that was reasonably supported by studies, the professor should have stood his ground.

"Is the rice what makes Bud so sticky sweet?"

I don't know, rice can be real sticky though. I think the rice gives Bud a different taste, something I don't care for.
