President Kwasniewski warns against tough stand towards Russia.
19.12.2005
Meanwhile outgoing president Aleksander Kwasniewski has warned the ruling party in Poland against a tough stand towards Russia. Kwasniewski advises president elect Lech Kaczynski not to demand a visit in Warsaw by president Putin but meet the Russian head of state in any place in the world. Speaking for the commercial radio TOK Fm Kwasniewski said he believes that Poland cannot force the Polish interpretation of the history of the Soviet Union and Russia. Poland should aim at forming joint commissions of historians, changes in school books and open discussions. President Kwasniewski considers that Polands future head of state should place Polish Russian reconciliation as one of top priority goals in Polands foreign policy.
Asked about relations with Russia Aleksander Kwasniewski said that Russia remains undecided whether it wants to be a superpower, a member of the G8 group or part of democratic Europe. Russias policy is weak and full of historic grievances towards the whole region of Central eastern Europe especially former Soviet Union states, said Aleksander Kwasniewski.
Kwasniewski the old apparatchik and communist enabler sucks up to Russkies again.
