Thanks for the ping. Yes, this is true: "Virtually every military confrontation since 1968 has been covered from the same adversarial stance that marked theTet reports. (And not only wars Katrina coverage was just as distorted, hysterical, and harmful as any recent war reportage.)" The "mainsteam" media is anti-american.

It was the first time in history that the news media overturned a victory won by forces on the ground. It wasn't the last time they tried.
I'm reminded of the 2000 election and Algore.
The picture isn't relavent, but I get a good laugh outta seeing that idiot with a gun pointed at his head.

"Shakespeare wrote a play about cable news many years ago: Much ado about nothing!!" They only get away with it because people are impatient; they want their bad news through an IV

Howdy, SAM,
Bird feeding is way up here, factor of more than twenty times I think. I hope you have snow. We get a couple dozen seed eater finch types almost constantly when there is good sun. Using hulled sunflower and niger.
Personally I believe that the Foxhole ping list is in order. Maybe better would be a Foxhole using the article text without elaboration or comment with plenty of pictures.

I returned to South Viet Nam on 31 January 1968. I was aware of the Khe Sanh battle from the TV news, and was amassed at all the shots of the same C130 aircraft taken from different angles for the news shots. It gave the impression that there were downed C130s all over the place. People at home still had faith in our esteemed media and told me it had to be a lot of planes shot down.
As soon as the fight for Tan Son Nhut airbase was over we landed and I grabbed a chopper to Vung Tau and my boat. As we watched Vinh Long take heavy enemy artillery and mortar fire Armed Forces radio was reporting light sniping in Vinh Long and heavy fighting in Saigon along the river. The reports were credited to civilian American reporters. We evacuated a German Medical mission and took them to Saigon where we expected to see massive damage. We saw a very few broken windows and bullet holes. We quit listening to the news.
After returning to Vung Tau the crew was flown to Da Nang to take over a boat that had lost its crew. Yes, it was nasty
Up North, but we could see gains on a daily basis, particularly in and around Hue.
By the time I left Viet Nam at the end of April 1968 things had quieted down and the VC/NVA were actually becomming hard to find. They had been eliminated as a fighting force. There was talk among us on the Freedom Bird on the way home. We all knew that the War in Viet Nam was nearly over and that we had won. The ill conceived Tet Offensive was the death knell for the enemy forces.
Imagine my shock when I arrived home to learn that the VC/NVA forces had royally kicked our butts and we had lost the war.

...Cronkite is often called "the most trusted man in America".The network, CBS, gave him that moniker.
It's kinda like when they push a new show, they hype it by saying, "New hit comedy" or whaever type of program it is. I mean, if it's new, how do they, or anyone else, know it's a hit?
I've been turned off by the Eye's hyperbole for quite some time now, and outside football, I don't really watch anything on it.
Just my two cents...

Secretary of State Henry Kissinger negotiated a cease fire agreement with the North Vietnamese in Paris in 1973. U.S. troops were withdrawn, then Congress cut support for South Vietnam and the Communists reinvaded. The members of Congress thereby wasted 58,000 of our soldiers lives, plus the missing limbs and other wounds of many thousands more. Members of Congress today, including almost all Democrats, want to cut and run from Iraq even though we are winning, again wasting the lives of our soldiers who have died for a necessary, noble and just cause. The Democrats want President Bush, our troops, and the United States to fail in Iraq & Afghanistan, because they think that will help them win elections. The Democrats (Kerry, Kennedy, Biden, Leahy, Reid, Pelosi, Boxer, Rockefeller, Dean, Schmuck Schumer, Clintons, et cetera, ad nauseum) are allies of the terrorists. A vote for a Democrat is vote for the enemy.
