Perhaps - but I hardly think it zot-worthy. Methinks too many people read it too quickly and incorrectly assumed he was bashing Christians.I doubt that this came from the real Bob but someone stirring up trouble using his name.

Laz, you are needed over here.
This may tie into the "How to tell you've been abducted by aliens" thread.

I still don't get it. What did it say that was so patently offensive and zot-worthy? Clumsily and poorly worded, yes. But in essence, it was merely a screed bemoaning the commercialization of Christmas at the expense of Christ. What did I miss?

Say, Good Ole Paul, one would like to know why it is okay to bash Christian traditions and question the relevance to the religion.
Huh? I read this as a critique of the fact that you see way more trees and snowflakes and Santas and shopping sales than you do evidence of the Child that was born. He could have written it better, but I hardly think it was designed to bash "Christian traditions".

YOu must be an alien.
So, buh, buy. ZOT-for-brains.

I live in Mary Esther Florida also. If this was the real Paul all he had to do is to look around at the six churches on Hwy 98 and notice all of the signs celebrating the birth of the Savior.
All he noticed was the Christmas decorations put up by the town.
He missed the Salvation Army collections centers for the poor. The collection points for the hurricane victims. The local food drives....etc. He must be blind to the kindness that the good folks here do!
Sad to say if he does live here he doesn't get out much.

Look, I'm not trying to be pedantic - but I see all these good things where I live, also. And yet, you'll have a hard time convincing me that these things are the focus of society at large. I'll be the first one to admit that I spend too much money on crap at this time of year, and spend too little on worthy charities. How many inflatable Santas are in front yards this year - contrast that with the number of Nativity scenes you see.
It doesn't offend me that someone suggests that I could be a little more observant of my Christian tenets; rather, it convicts me. Guess I'm in need of a good zotting, as well.

I don't believe you need to be zotted. Heck! you ought to see all the postings I get calling for the kitties, more often then not I ignore them. There are times I wonder why certain articles are considered zot worthy.
...Bottom line, I don't believe the poster is really Paul.

It's probably the phony pastor from this thread:
It may be. But I'm not going to "Dan Quayle" the message simply because it's "the right message, wrong messenger".
And, the other thread stumbled on to a point. I'm not sure it would be a bad thing if the godless retailers and drunken revelers all divested themselves of the notion that their holiday orgy is centered around Christmas. How would it be a bad thing for all the negative elements to leave Christmas behind, back in the hands of those who will celebrate it as the religious occasion it is?
The problem comes when too many Christians are willing to follow suit. For example, too many Christian pastors are willing to go perform a non-denominational invocation at a municipal 'holiday tree' lighting ceremony, instead of just hosting a purely Christian alternative at their church. In such cases, the problem isn't city hall, the problem is the Christians who endorse it.

And that may be - but it seems like in that case, the Admin should just pull the account and/or the thread.

I dunno.
It sounds fishy though.
The personal info originally included may have been put there to get someone else to catch heat.

The history channel had a special about the origin of Christmas and, according to historians, that is how it has been celebrated for centuries.

This off-world anthropologist would certainly see that the natives have an inborn drive to worship SOMETHING, but he would conclude that they are still primitive, ignorant savages who worship meaningless icons

I have been wanting one of those white deer that has the moving head like it is grazing.
I am too cheap to buy it.
So I stick with the spiral rope light trees.
I am such a heathen.
BTW... If I see an alien anthropologist snooping around, I would just shoot it.
Merry Christmas

So? That doesn't really rebut my point - namely, I'm not sure it would be a bad thing if the godless retailers and drunken revelers all divested themselves of the notion that their holiday orgy is centered around Christmas - regardless of how long they think they've owned it.
I'm pretty sure that the first couple of years of the celebration of the birth of Christ contained none of that stuff. Some angels, some shepherds coming to worship, and many months later, some kings bearing gifts. Does that make your Christmas tree bad? No - but it might make it superfluous.
