No surprise. I've always wondered how much Perot got paid to split the conservative vote in 92 and 96.

People argue over who did more to turn America into a Republican country, Goldwater,or Reagan, or Gingrich, but my personal vote is William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, which I guess leads to Perot.

Perot was more responsible than anyone for the "Contract with America" and the Republican takeover of '94 ... and Bill Clinton was only the next best thing that ever happened to make it happen.

But George W. Bush and our current "Republicans" act like they are doing anything and everything they can to screw up any progress we have made in the last 10 years.

I can't believe anyone was more responsible than Gingrich and his years of dogged, brilliant work, but, yes Perot's campaign inadvertently helped create the atmosphere for that victory (probably a great deal). As upset with Bush as I am now, I think in a few years we will start thinking of him as Reagan two.
