A rock about 1/2 inch in diameter, travelling at 9-10 miles per second caused a rather large explosion on the moon. On Earth, it would have made a very nice, bright shooting star before it burned up.

I think it's more like 5 inches, and it would have at least picked up the net gravitational energy difference between the surface of the Moon and the top of Earth's atmosphere, a piece.
