yup. What gets me is the Evangelical Covenant. They baited and switched us when we joined, making us think they are much more conservative than they are. In fact, I think many of the pastors in small towns don't realize what is happening, they've been duped by the Covenant into believing that dissention is wrong... disunity is wrong. Unity at all costs, pretty much. Many will leave when the Covenant decides homosexuality is ok, but by that time the horse is out of the barn. This low view of Scripture and focus on something OTHER than our job of teaching the truth is where it begins.(e.g. social justice, social action - not that we should never seek those things, but in a much more organic one on one way, as a result of knowing the truth.
Despite his orthodox words, Barths dialectical theological enterprise was always shaped by his prior and lifelong commitment to socialism. He chose theology as a basis for social action, and not the other way around. That's putting the cart before the horse.
