IF, by Rudyard KiplingIf you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
Pinging you to the last Dose thread of 2005. Happy New Year everyone. May the Lord's blessings be upon you and your families as we usher in 2006.

Happy new year's!
Hello Wolfstar! Happy New Year. :) Thanks for the ping.
Could you change the date in the title to 12/31/05? It reads 12/21/05 now.
Thanks and Happy New Year.
Wow, that fits dubya to a 'T'.
Thanks for the thread and thank God for the Angel in the Whirlwind. That's one of the quotes I'll always remember.
Thank you to all of the talented FReepers who post the dose everyday. We appreciate all the hard work that goes into a daily thread. Happy New Year!
;o)
Good evening Wolfstar, thanks for that poem... Kipling isn't too much of a favorite of mine, however that poem of his certainly IS! It makes me think of our GWB, fits him to a Tee.
Our new year's eve plans changed due to snowy, sleety weather so we'll be having dinner at the same friend's house tomorrow afternoon. It seems no one wanted to venture out tonight and I think that's wise.
Happy New Year and love to all ... I don't get to check in at The Dose as much as I'd like these days but it's a safe, wonderful place filled with good cyber-friends.
Special prayers for snugs and her dad in their sorrow at this time.
Finally, God bless our president, VP, their families and our marvelous military who all continue to keep us free and safe.
Kipling might as well be living now in these times, Wolfstar! Thanks for printing the poem. I've always loved it.
Happy New Year all good persons!!!! Be strong and good persons!!!! Good G-D will help you.
Wolfstar, thank you for tonight's Dose and all the other wonderful posts that you've brought to us during the past year. You do wonderful work!
Thank you, too, to all the others who post the daily dose of sanity. Please know that the time and effort you each put into posting articles and wonderful pictures of our W and Laura is so very much appreciated.
I wish you all a happy, healthy and peaceful 2006! And, may God continue to bless America, our troops and our President.
Lovely read, that poem by Kipling. Thanks.
