Minister Sheetrit is right but he is saying it too quickly. Give a little time out of respect for Prime Minister Sharon and for the circumstances to become a bit more clear. We don't know how severe the brain damage the Prime Minister suffered. We don't know if he will recover and, should he recover, if he will be able to be consulted.
Minister Sheetrit is also right about the list of candidates, except for including himself, of course. Acting Prime Minister Olmert would be the logical choice if he were popular. He is not. Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz would be the strongest candidate IMHO. Justice Minister Livni would certainly be an intriguing candidate.

Kadima is a cult of personality organized around Sharon and his bootlickers and coattail opportunists. Without the main man the party will collapse. Who else is going to lead it, Peres?
I'd like to see Nathan Sharansky come out of his forced retirement.
FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel/Russian Jewry ping list.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.

ken5050: Netanyanu will be the next PM
No, he won't. Not even close.
ken5050: and Israel will take out the Iranian nuclear sites before the summer.
Not a chance. The threat is much closer to Israel than Iran.
anotherview: Kadima will survive and likely win the election based on Ariel Sharon's vision. One of three people will lead it: Ehud Olmert, Shaul Mofaz, or Tzipi Livni.
FWIW, I agree.
anotherview: Shimon Peres isn't even running for a seat in the Knesset.
