THE assembly for the Mexican state of Baja California has declared movie star California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger "persona non grata" over his stance towards Mexican immigrants working in the US.
"The Terminator has forgotten that he too arrived in the United States as an immigrant and he now backs racist policies against immigrant workers," deputy Arturo Pena Valle said after the vote, referring to Mr Schwarzenegger's most famous screen role.
The regional assembly also denounced proposals in the US Congress to construct a fortified wall on the US-Mexico border to stem the flow of illegal immigrants.
Mr Schwarzenegger has opposed proposed legislation in California that would allow undocumented workers to obtain temporary driver's licenses.
The northeastern Mexican state lies along California's southern border.
I seem to remember that Arnie got his citizenship legally.
Senor Arturo Pena Valle seems to have left out the word "legal" there.
God, such sensitivities from folks who encourage an illegal invasion of a sovereign nation.
Hey, Mexico, STFU, and keep your crap in your own yard!!!
Build the fence. Now.
That's OK... He'll be back!
Just watched some other mental case Mexican official on Hannity and Colmes. Absolutely would not accept the fact the illegal immigrants are illegal.
It is bad enough dealing with Americans with entitlement mentality - this guy is a Mexican who has entitlement mentality - towards the US.
Build the wall now. The Mexican government has no inclination to even accept the problem statement, let alone contribute to its solution.
Maybe Arnold could match them - deny Mexican government officials entry into CA. Wouldn't bother me.
This situation is bizzare, and is leading towards open warfare.
Does this mean Baja California will build a wall to keep Ah-Nold out?
not just that, he came here on a visa not by jumping a fence
HUGE opportunity for Ah-no:
He should immediately call a press conference - mention the background, then dramatically declare all illegal immigrants from Baja officially "persona non grata" in the State of California.
Then send the ICE to take care of business. From the press conference... Pick up the red phone, and say "go do your jobs".
Better retort even, than when he returned his hometown ring and demanded Austria take his name of the stadium.
This one stand could win him re-election, just by itself.
"Senor Arturo Pena Valle seems to have left out the word "legal" there."
That's the obvious reaction, and one that the reporter could have gotten from about 70-80% of Californians if he had tried actually getting both sides of the argument.
He seemed very popular in Costa Rica while visiting in November.
That these Mexicans are so hair-trigger sensitive on this issue shows how much they know the illegal invasion helps them and hurts us. We should blow up about a two-mile zone between the US and Mexico then build a huge fence on our side of the canyon, with guard towers and artillery. Blow those illegals up!
Forget Iraq, we need to invade Mexico!
And entered the country legally.
Just watched some other mental case Mexican official on Hannity and Colmes. Absolutely would not accept the fact the illegal immigrants are illegal. ""
Must be the water in Mexico.
We have all been warned not to drink the water.....
Indeed. But I don't think he "forgot" anything. Funny how just like good libs, facts are checked at the door when playing politics.
The bottom line is that the Mexicans believe that they are entitled to immigrate to the US because they still consider California a part of Mexico. They don't say that openly, but that's how they think.
I'm sure Arnie has no problem with Mexicans who have emmigrated here legally. He should sue this paper for slander.
