There is the great danger that Jerusalem will be emptied of its Christian and Arab residents because of growing emigration, said King Abdallah II of Jordan in a meeting yesterday afternoon with 20 European and American bishops. The bishops form part of the Episcopal Conference Coordination in Support of the Church in the Holy Land, and they are also concerned about the plight of Christians in Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
The king invited western churches to encourage Arab Christian residents to remain in the Holy City because they are custodians of its authenticity and identity. The king also called for greater coordination and collaboration between Churches in Jordan and the Holy Land and western Churches, especially the Catholic Church, to confront the challenges of peace in the Holy Land.
Jerusalem, added the Hashemite monarch, is the city of hope and peace for believers of all three monotheistic religions.
According to official statistics, the Christian population of Jerusalem stands at 14,700 people. Franciscan sources in the Holy Land said that between 1840 and 2002, Jerusalems Christian population dropped from 25% to 2%. At the same time, the Jewish population grew from 4,000 to 400,000 thanks to immigration, while the Muslim population rose from 4,600 to 143,000, the outcome of a high birth rate. Insecurity about the future, the new Intifada and demographic and political pressures of the Israeli state are among the causes of migration.
Ping!
The Palis have already religiously cleansed Bethelem.
The King of Jordan is not a stupid man. He knows damn well that the fortunes of almost every country in the Middle East have declined considerably once the Christian population has left.

What B.S. Christians and early returning Jews in the 1900's buld up commerce, then the Muslim parasites came. Their population was added to in large numbers by Arafat expelling them from their homes and relocating them to create "palestinians".
Christians didn't just "leave" either. They were and are persecuted by the "cult of death" like Lebanon's " ethnic cleansing" of Christians In the 70's. Gee, what happened to 25,000 Christians? Where did they go? The problem is the world stands by and does nothing, allowing this cult of death's evil to prevail, not only in the M.E. but all over the world.
Maybe the Christians should stop using Birth Control too.
Foreign Ministry: Jordan bans entry of Jews wearing yarmulkes
Israelis sources claimed Tuesday that Jordan was banning entry of observing Jews wearing yarmulkes into its territory, in fear their presence in the country may provoke terror attacks, a Foreign Ministry official reported.
A ministry spokesman said that officials were familiar with issue, and that they were in talks with the Jordanian government to address the subject. (Roee Nahmias and AP)

Memo from Virginia to King Abdullah:
If you and the other Arab leaders would genuinely and seriously crack down on Islamic intimidation and terrorism, there would be no need to beg Christians not to leave to save their skins, lives, and families.
Get a clue, Kingy! They keep leaving because they've seen and experienced life in an "Islamic paradise" and they don't want one bit of it. Can't blame 'em.
And accomplished it in a very short time, a decade or so, with the help of Clinton and his 'peace' plans.
