Now that's the type of Democrat I remember and grew up with! The old lunchbox Democrat, who, although pushed for healthcare, jobs, and education, STILL made national defense #1 priority and recognized the dangers of rogue regimes.

Expect the losers in Leiberman's party and the MSM to denounce him or try to spin the remarks to appeal to the fringe kooks.

I like Joe Lieberman a lot. Although we disagree on any number of issues, he always struck me as a reasonable, patriotic, and decent man. I know he had to swing over to the "dark side" temporarily for his shot as VP in 2000, but during the VP debate with Cheney, both of them conducted themselves like real gentlemen.

During the 2004 election season, I was seriously hoping that Leiberman would be the candidate. If he ignored the slime machine and was just himself, THAT would have changed the tone in Washington- and across the nation.

Of course, he was too reasonable, patriotic, and decent for the fringe left, and they dumped him for the Traitorous Toy Soldier. My thinking was that if - Heaven forbid - Bush lost in 2004, at least I could sleep at night with Joe in the White House. He was on board with the WOT and understood what we were up against. The rest of the pack would have aged me 10 years easily, due to sleep depravation and nightmares.

As it is, Kerry's run helped to marginalize the Left even more, so I'm glad Joe didn't get the nod.

Glad that old Joe finally got his head out of the clouds of thinking how proud his parents would be if he became VP and has become his old self again. Maybe he will inspire some others to leave Hillary's plantation.
