Thanks for reminding us of the anniversary, Debbie. The Iranians knew Reagan meant business. They're just as dangerous as ever and they still think Uncle Sam is gonna let Manhattan go up in a mushroom cloud. That's their final mistake. President Reagan restored America's faith in itself. Its a good trip down memory lane.

Will anyone watching TV that day ever forget seeing those hostages getting on the plane to freedom. And then learning about the cheers as the pilot announced that they were out of Iranian airspace!

It is most worth noting that under our "great president" Jimmy "20% inflation" Carter, nothing was done except a botched rescue attempt that left copters and people dead in the desert. When Ronald "Raygun" Reagan was put in power, suddenly, magically, hostages were freed, because the enemies of democracy knew that he meant business, and would not refrain from complete and total war in order to bring our people home.
Moral: You can whine and prace about making friends with the world and about "understanding" what our enemies feel, but what the bastards in the desert respect is firepower and a willingness to use it.

By the way, did the Iranian mullahs ever finish erecting that statue of Jimmy Carter?
