"If a gay guy flirts with you, the rational thing to do is be flattered and politely decline."
Sorry. Wrong. Only once did someone make a solicitation comment at me one time near a beach, and just said sternly while continuing to walk "you're sick, get some help." And for good measure, I mentioned the person to a police car that was at the nearby gas station and suggested he be aware of this person in case he intended to bother any teenagers or children in the future.

I'm going to ignore the punk until he puts his hand on me then I'm going to react with "violent" revulsion. I won't put up with this kind of disrespect from anyone.

In public parks, beaches, and restrooms, that is referred to as "cruising".
Nothing "flattering" about being propositioned to join in an anonymous public sexual encounter. Especially with someone of the same sex.

"If a gay guy flirts with you, the rational thing to do is be flattered and politely decline." WRONG! I was once at a convention, and got a phone call from another convention-goer. It was a homosexual proposition. It scared the daylights out of me. Some queer guy was out there stalking me, and I had no idea who it was.
