Why is it when many people reply with a general comment, their replys go to the article poster (the one who started the thread) rather than the last person to make a post?

What I mean is, many times I'll read a multipage thread, and then reply to whoever was last, rather than page back to the beginning-are others just not reading past the first post or am I missing something?

It depends who you select to 'reply' to.

Because your comment to the last poster may not have anything to do with what he/she said, and may cause hard feelings, confusion and a case of hives. (It also fills up the last poster's personal page with things that have nothing to do with him/her) THAT's why.
