Senate to consider immigration in late March

WASHINGTON --Majority Leader Bill Frist told a group of key lawmakers involved in immigration legislation the Senate will take up the issue on March 27, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said Thursday. "That's when the fireworks begin on the floor," Cornyn said. Cornyn was among the handful of Republican senators who met in Frist's office for the strategy session. Also at the meeting were Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl and Sens. Mel Martinez of Florida, Richard Lugar of Indiana, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the Judiciary Committee chairman. Cornyn is optimistic the Senate bill will include President Bush's proposal for an expanded immigrant guest worker program to help curb illegal immigration. "Obviously everyone understands border security is the foundation of any comprehensive bill," Cornyn said, "but I think in the Senate there's also broad acceptance of the need to deal with not just security issues but economic issues as well, which means a temporary worker program to in some way deal with 11 million (illegal immigrants) here."

Cornyn said he doesn't see a lot of support in the Senate for a provision denying children of illegal immigrants born in the United States citizenship or for building a fence on the southern border.

Then you are not considering the views of the people. Stop this damn political elitism.

None of this is gonna stop. The politicians don't care what we think, they are gonna do it their way and if Americans don't like it.....they can eat tacos! I saw Bush on tv today talking about we need many more H1-b's. I almost gagged.

Interesting. I thought they were going to hit on this in Feb.

Some interesting figures.

Lets say 1 Million illegally slip through a year that doesn’t get caught. It’s probably safe to say it’s higher.

Today is 3 Feb. They will “talk” about immigration on 27 March. 52 days between the dates.

In those 52 days, around 142, 465 people will slip through. Or 2,739 per day.

If the Senate passes any kind of guest worker amnesty, and it makes it into a final bill and is passed, then I have voted for my last Rinocrat Quisling traitor.

Line in the sand time, Rinos. Consider VERY CAREFULLY how important those illegal alien employers are to your campaign warchest. If you pass a guest worker amnesty in any form, YOU WILL BE UNEMPLOYED.

I can see the bill now -"Now you guys need to go home or we will get real mad. Okay?. We mean it. Don't make me yell at you undocumented people. Okay?"

Don't leave out the ones who ARE caught. They are given a court date and released never to be seen again.

Cornyn is one sorry excuse for an American if he does not see these two issues as important. He has no business being in the Senate.

Travis, I have watched this president betray conservative ideals across the board. If it weren't for his actions with regard to Iraq, I'd have little to praise him for. I will concede it looks like he made two decent appointments to the SCOTUS, after some prodding.

There comes a time when you have to accept that we continue down the road to deminished sovereignty that has our own nation being swamped, and the world's leading destabalizing force, being financed with our dollars.

If this is the game plan, then we just as well let the left destroy this nation outright, than take ten to fifteen to see it happen.

IMO, this nation will not be righted until the quislings have had their way. Hell, let them win. It will leave this nation in ashes, but at least we can start anew referencing God and acting like our forefathers intended for the first time in decades.

Even that prospect has been blunted, in that so many people for foreign nations have come here in recent years, that it would be hard pressed to start over with decent ideals. Everyone who comes these days only gives a damn about what's in it for them. Our founding fathers paid a very heavy price to give us this nation. I doubt this generation could give us 20% of what they did.

*PING!*

Hmm...yup, that Kyl/Cornyn bill the 'Bots have been all geeked out over sure will solve all these problems! We don't NEED a "provision" denying the Childern of Illegals citizenship..we just need a proper reading of the 14th Amendment!

Guess it's time to make a distinct separtation...'Bots, Ruling Eeee-lites and OBL-ers, and Americans and Conservatives that are serious about stopping Illegal Infiltration and securing the Borders.

At last poll, 85% were on the side of America...that leaves the OBL Ruling Eeee-lites with 15%...

Does Jorge really like those numbers?
