Gays are entitled to the same human rights as everybody else.

This does not entitle them to their own group at the United Nations. Siding with common sense against a move that would hinder future human rights efforts by the United Nations is definitely not comparable to the Democrats siding against freedom in their support of Saddam Hussein's regime.

Who cares what the Democrats are doing? I couldn't give the slightest ounce of thought to what an effete and gutless party thinks about our involvement in Iraq or gay rights.

However, I do care about allowing all people, regardless of sexuality, equal opportunity for representation. There are already a number of gay and lesbian groups - as well as Christian, Islamic, progressive and conservative groups - on this council, so it defies all reasoning to dismiss without hearing these two specific groups. Let them speak their piece and be torn apart when their weak-willed argument collapse around them.
