The military also didn't think it was a good idea to leave guards at Iraqi weapons stockpiles, either.

and what about that guy who tried to get into the car of one of the weaposn inspectors to give him evidence-

Has anyone seen him alive since?

If I recall correctly Hans Blix said "if only he had approached us 'elegantly'"

Doesn't seem like the UN is involved in this.
It would be nice if the MSM gave this some traction, but I'm not holding my breath

It sure smells fishy...

I have to wonder WHO doesn't want the WMD confirmed?

The CIA? The NSA? The UN?

I'll bet there are things there we will never know...until it is too late to do anything about it!

I have no doubt WMD are in Iraq, (and Syria) either.

It has been my position from the beginning that evidence of WMD has been ignored, possibly for political reasons..

The links between Libya's Nuclear WMD program and Iraq (and Egypt) are undeniable.. Yet, the evidence is completely ignored, never mentioned..

Oh my gosh! I can see it all now. Bunkers broken into, WMD found, a month before the 2006 election. Madeleine Albright's worst fears come true (albeit not keeping Osama on ice until right before an election) and the props are kicked out from Dems. and we have 60 seats in the Senate and 240 in the House and the Dems become indistinguishable from the Green Party in their fringeness.

Got to give the NY Sun credit. They are one of the few hiting this WMD angle really hard, interviewing the former Iraqi AF general and investigating it.

If you're George Bush, it must be extremely difficult to know who you can trust these days. Seems like a significant portion of the Executive Branch is filled with RAT partisans out to 'get Bush', even if it means endangering the lives of American citizens.

At this site, Mr. Gaubatz found gas masks, boots, and an imprint of an al-Samoud missile in the ground nearby a canal used to flood the tunnel.

While I ponder how seriously to take Mr. Gaubatz's account, I have to contemplate the line about the missile imprint.

Such a story is most assuredly intended to impress someone about the seriousness of the evidence, but...

...just exactly what kind of an imprint does a missile leave in the sand on the side of the road?

...and how can someone look at missile imprint in the sand and specifically determine what type of missile made it?

Why is this stroy, and the former General who says the WMD were moved to Syria being ignored by the MSM? Never mind, I know the answer.

OK..here is my problem with the story. Where are the other soldiers that would have been with David Gaubatz when he located these tunnels? It does not sound plausible that he would have been sent into enemy territory without force protection unless he was an arab local hired by the Pentagon to spy, etc. The story does not make this clear, but I notice he goes by (Mr) with no military prefix attached to his name. The story, by saying 'ex-officer' is misleading if he was not a member of the US military.

Regardless, it seems to me that if he was reporting to the US military...they would have investigated. It does sound plausible that if he was reporting to the Iraq Survey Group...something fishy is going on.
I suppose something fishy is going on no matter what. Can someone explain to this novice how the guy could be considered an 'officer' with the military and not have a military prefix to his name?

I'm guessing our military planner are not too happy about these public discussions about potential WMD sides in Iraq, or Syria... I would think they'd want to keep this classified. There are more option available to them, without the MSM in their face.

However, on the political side, a lot of us would love to have this story come out and be able to scream "I TOLD YOU SO!!!!". I am sooo tired of these "Bush lied" lunatics. Fortunately, our Commander in Chief faithfully puts military strategy and national security ahead of political strategy... for which I am grateful.

Another excellent story from Eli Lake. I'm guessing he's got a source in Hoekstra's committee.

"A cover up from our friends at the United Nations?"

I believe the Iraq Survey Group is American. Correct? Incorrect? Let me know.

This is an excellent posting. I hope the Military follows up on it. If it looks promising, they can invite Fox News to televise live. Geraldo could set the stage. "What's down there? We'll find out next!"

The truth can be hard to come by. Saddam, like the communists, was not honest. It's funny how mass murderers don't mind lying. It just isn't easy to know what's what on the other side of the world. I'd love it if we could find huge WMD stashes in Iraq or Syria.
