European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso announced his support to Denmark over the cartoons ridiculing Prophet Mohammed and outraging Muslims.
The president, who declared in a statement to Jyllands-Posten daily, the paper responsible for first publishing the cartoons, said freedom of speech is one of the pillars of Europe.
Nothing can vindicate violence, he said. "We should say to those who condemn the cartoons that freedom of speech is not a matter for discussion. This is a basic value of European society."
Interesting to see who has some backbone and who doesn't.
The problem is that Islamfacists don't see themselves as citizens of any country, other than the religion of islam. They could care less about a free society, freedom of the press, democratic elections and so on. They migrate to countries to get OUT of the squalor in which they were raised, only to bring the same values to their new country and try to enforce their beliefs on the citizens.
It does look, however, like some EuroWeenies are beginning to fight back, and for that they should be commended..
Thank God somebody at the EU headquarters has some backbone unlike spineless Solana.
The irony is that it isn't muSlums they're trying to "convince" - it's their own so-called freedom-loving people!! Not that we don't have the same problem in the U.S.
Must not be a fan of Zapatero
