Cheney Mishap Takes Focus Off CIA Leak (Lib/Rino Media Anger Rant)

WASHINGTON - It's not Dick Cheney's hunting mishap that worries Republicans. It's his other scandal — the CIA leak case and the threat it poses to the embattled vice president.

Republican activists acknowledge that the accidental shooting of Cheney's friend is the talk of mainstream America and has made the vice president the butt of jokes. But they do not expect political fallout from the shooting or the clumsy way in which it was disclosed.

"It's hard to believe that anybody can make Dick Cheney a sympathetic figure," said Rep. Tom Cole (news, bio, voting record), R-Okla. "That's what the media has done."

Republicans say they are pleasantly surprised that the intense media coverage of the hunting accident has shifted attention from the case of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Cheney's former chief of staff. Libby is accused of misleading investigators about who leaked the identify of a CIA official.

This is hilarious. Plural? Most don't mind the LIbby story being up front, that's a dem obsession. Look at the article. The Repub authority is an aide to the mayor of Phoenix.

I'm not a big fan of Cheney, but this hunting accident is the ultimate tempest in a teapot. What's next? Cheney bumps into someone in the hallway and the press goes nuts wondering if he was drunk and why an assault charge wasn't filed?

One phony scandal is diverting attention away from another phony scandal?

Uh, Earth to MSM, YOU pick the news agenda. Putting Cheney above the fold is YOUR OWN CREATION yet now you complain about it??? Jeez, MSM, you really ARE stuck on stupid.

Small children blame everyone but themselves for their tantrums. Near as I can tell this is a complaint that they're unable to be sufficiently hysterical on topic A because they're too busy being hysterical on topic B. I think the media are selling themselves short here - they are quite capable of mustering enough hysteria to cover multiple topics simultaneously.

So ONE previously unheard of news source, National Journal, uses unsourced information that Libby said that Cheney told him to out Plame, and the rest of the MSM piles on.

Despite the fact that Libby's lawyer has stated clearly the article is NOT true. Facts no longer matter to the media.

I couldn't agree more. I'm still convinced that all Libby stated was "I asked if it would be all right to talk about Valerie Plame and they said 'yeah, sure - everyone knows about her already.'"

Far cry from ORDERED - but then the MSM, and DUmmies don't use the same dictionary as the rest of us, if I recall correctly.

Isn't it past time that the Republican Congress investigate the MSM? These are people who tried to throw the '04 election to Kerry. Their makeup is self-admittley 80% liberal. Their open disdain for this administration is on the table.

Are some media folks taking payoffs? Are they on the payroll of the DNC? Don't laugh, I'm about at the point where I can believe it.

God I wish. Unfortunately the 1st Amendment probably makes it impossible for us to investigate them. We, the People, simply must destroy them by developing the New Media to the point the Junk Journalists are irrelevent.

Fellow Republicans said growing anti-war sentiment and President Bush's warrantless spying program are bigger political problems for the GOP.

Again with the anonymous Republicans.

Last I checked Democrats had backtracked and stated the program to be necessary, while RINO's were backing away from hearings and trying to get going on passing meaningless legislation to cover their excess of rhetoric before.

Last I checked it was Democrats that refused to vote to bring the troops home.

As well, last I checked the MSM decided this accident was their key to getting rid of Cheney. The administration didn't make it front page, they did.

Good grief - the media's been the ones who've been hyperventilating and flogging this dead pony with everything they've got, and now they're bitching about how it's sucking all the oxygen out of the room?

I give up.
