Alan Simpson: Cheney Coverage Was 'Crap'

Former Sen. Alan Simpson blasted the media's obsessive reporting on Dick Cheney hunting accident on Sunday, saying reporters typically focus on nothing but "controversy, crap and confusion."

"How are we to trust [the press], after a whole week of absolute dribble, and babble, and people, you know, interviewing themselves," he told "Fox News Sunday."

Noting that Washington is filled with "good people doing good things," Simspon fumed: "You'll never find it if you just follow the Washington media. You'll never know the good. All you get is controversy, crap and confusion."

Simpson said reporters ignored the only real news in the Cheney story because of their cultural biases.

"There is a human element here that got lost in the perfect storm of people who don't like Cheney," he explained. "They don't like hunting. They don't like guns. They don't like people who kill birds and eat them. I mean, good grief."

Simpson used to crack me up. He once said of Sam Donaldson, "Sam is a self-made man, thus saving God from an awesome responsibility." Anyway, yeah, I think Sore Loserdom is a sickness that has completely possessed the left. They were always nutty, but now they are totally unhinged.

Simpson hits the bull's eye.

As an aside... I made some good food with a bird last eve... chicken-vegetable-noodle soup... very good on a chilly N. Texas eve.

Speaking of good bird, anyone ever have dove wrapped in bacon and cooked over an open flame?

I'm getting hungry ;-)

I have zero creative talent. However, I have great talent in recognizing talent and then "borrowing" it.

I like Simpson about as much as I like McMeMeMe -- which is to say, not.

But like McInsane, sometimes he's right. Like this time.

Watch him to pull a McLame on his next public statement.

For anyone paying the slightest attention, this over the top reaction by the MSM was quite an eyeopener.

Katrina should have been an eye-opener to most people also...but I doubt most consumers of the MSM fare were awake enough to understand that. I'm certain they did not watch the hearings.

The effect the media had on people's perceptions of Katrina were totally undone by Nagin.

This craziness could be understood even by those city folks who never even saw a quail or a gun.

The Cheney LMSM overreaction trip wired our daughter to go off politically, and believe me, for her to become bestirred, takes some kind of doing.

Any hope David Gregory had of rising further in his career he killed last week.

I just love the fact that their hypocrisy shows no bounds.

When it was learned privately that Bubba was having a tryst with some fat intern, Newsweek sat on the story, and when Drudge ran with it, the left-winged press, in all it's unhinged bias, was angrier at Drudge than they were with Clinton for exposing a story they were hellbent on sitting on for the remainder of Clinton's second term.

The left-winged media made it more about themselves and their hero Clinton, than anything else because their space had been violated by some alleged and delusioned "VRWC".

I think you've hit on it.

They also are peeved that a local paper got the scoop - and that the story wasn't handed to them on a silver platter.

They're not reporters - they're just glorified news readers. And naturally they despise reporters like the folks that work for the Caller-Times -- because they are really doing the job that the DC Press Corpse only pretends to do.

Love this collage of pix!! I wonder how long before we see a web site on Mr. Cheney similar to the one on Chuck Norris?

or what about Al Gore's speech?...Has that even been mentioned in the MSM?

The sheer beauty of it is, they're ticked a local paper is reporting a local South Texas story relevant to their area and to their readers! That's what is so hilarious about this whole fiasco! LOL!

It's no different than finding out what's going on in Washington by reading the Washington Times, or the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle "scooping" Cheney's visit to Cheyenne. LOL!
