Alan Simpson: Cheney Coverage Was 'Crap'
Former Sen. Alan Simpson blasted the media's obsessive reporting on Dick Cheney hunting accident on Sunday, saying reporters typically focus on nothing but "controversy, crap and confusion."
"How are we to trust [the press], after a whole week of absolute dribble, and babble, and people, you know, interviewing themselves," he told "Fox News Sunday."
Noting that Washington is filled with "good people doing good things," Simspon fumed: "You'll never find it if you just follow the Washington media. You'll never know the good. All you get is controversy, crap and confusion."
Simpson said reporters ignored the only real news in the Cheney story because of their cultural biases.
"There is a human element here that got lost in the perfect storm of people who don't like Cheney," he explained. "They don't like hunting. They don't like guns. They don't like people who kill birds and eat them. I mean, good grief."

Damn, I miss him.
The media knows it's crap, too. It's their strategy to keep the real news from getting out.
"controversy, crap and confusion" bump!
I'm reminded of a Three Stooges skit, showing their phony "press" id (knobs removed from sinks, I think?) to get into some place -
Larry: "Press!"
Moe: "Press!"
Curly: "Pull!..."
Got to respectfully disagree...Reporters that demonstrate a willingness to 'go after' an administration are celebrated among the press literati. I expect he is in for a raise.
Thanks for the ping!
LOL Simpson rocks
"They also buried the Saddam tape story during this time. Convenient, isn't it? It would seem that in this whole journalistic circus there would be at least ONE person curious to know what was dedacted from the Barrett Report!"
Interesting! I hadn't thought about it being a cover for the Saddam tapes .. but that and the Barrett Report would be good enough reasons to make a mountain out of a mole hill with Cheney - who the media already hates.
They already know why the pages were hidden - and I thought it was more like 400 pages - not 120.
We are on the same wavelength! :)
