"Funny how the staunchest of the FR Bush supporters are mum on these threads. Denial, I guess."

I woudl say even staunch FR Bush supporters generally admit Bush is wrong on the border. On these threads, they don't look like "Bush supporters."

I have feeling that Dubya is related to the Captain of the Titanic..
Sir, we hit an iceberg and are sinking fast.

Yeah, yeah, so you say. I don't see any iceberg. And even if we did, so what, we NEED Icebergs. Icebergs are goooooooood. And Iceberg values don't stop at the arctic circle.

Anyway lets move these deck chairs around first.
And then I want to talk to you about repainting the Ballroom, I don't like the color.

We're being freaking invaded by a foreign power and all he says is "My people will call your people" - what utter bullshit.

President Bush seems genuinely to believe that millions of immigrants are needed to take low-paying jobs here

George W. Bush isn't that stupid.
He actually believes that they're needed to reduce the wages and benefits of high-paying jobs.
That's precisely what he means when he says that Americans need to be "more competitive" in the global economy -- that the American Middle Class must work longer hours for lower wages.

"Start building the fence. "

You're right, but we just need to keep building support for strong borders. Bush will do nothing on this unless he is forced. And Congress rarely forces a President of their own party, especially on an issue like this (with a political downside.)

Personally, I'd like to see the "border folks" get into camcorders and start compiling a video library on the border.

Maybe the American people can pool our money together and pay mexican mafia to patrol the borders. Make it more profitable then drugs, prostitution and human smuggling.
It would be cheaper and more effective in the long run!

Chris1 to GWB: Go back to your ranch and stay there!

This garbage is utterly disgusting. He thinks we can't low wage jobs. He thinks we can't do high tech jobs, he thinks we can't do port jobs.

What a joke!

President Bush seems genuinely to believe that millions of immigrants are needed to take low-paying jobs here. He also appears to be oblivious to the border problems. I just don't understand his thinking.

What could be clearer? Bush is practicing Politics 1A, which is to carry water for economic and political interests. With immigration, it is the cheap labor lobby, represented by The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Manufacturers, the American Farm Bureau Federation, etc.

He can't say that is what he is doing, so he talks of helping the economy, welcoming newcomers, and a bunch of other balderdash to keep us confused.

Figuratively, of course, these two lonely-at-the-top ranchers are just screwing American citizens.

Literally, while Bush kisses more men than any other U.S. President, there's no public evidence his man-on-man encounters go beyond that.

I sometimes think the Whitehouse is happy things like the Vice President's shooting comes along. It makes the left rapid and look stupid and of course we of the GOP come to Whitehouse's aid. All the while the elephant in the room --immigration isn't brought up.
