MILWAUKEE -- President Bush and President Vicente Fox of Mexico exchanged ideas Monday on how to stop violence and improve security along the two countries' mutual border, the White House said.

Press secretary Scott McClellan said that Bush telephoned Fox while traveling here to give a speech and said the pair "talked about working together" to improve conditions that have been a source of friction between the two countries.

McClellan told reporters that Bush has designated Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to talk to his counterpart in Mexico about the problem and said that Bush and Fox also talked about pending immigration legislation in Congress

Bush to Fox, "My people want the border secured and Illegal Immigration stopped."

Fox to Bush, "No"

Bush to Fox, "Ok sir."

From what we've seen from Bush, he'll leave the Fox in charge of the hen house. These "talks" are to look like he's doing something, to appease the critics.

There's nothing to talk about. Put up an armed barrier, and make it known that anyone attempting to sneak across that border will be subject to deadly force by highly trainer sharpshooters.

Mr. President, God Bless You, you keep telling us that you're a WAR PRESIDENT, so why are we still allowing illegals to swarm across our borders during a time of WAR?

How about just do your sworn duty, Mr. Bush?

U.S. Constitution Article 4 Section 4:

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

Invasion: \In*va"sion\, n. [L. invasio: cf. F. invasion. See Invade.] [1913 Webster]

Rest assured, the GOP will bring up gay marriage and get it on many state ballots and we will vote GOP in droves.

Funny how the staunchest of the FR Bush supporters are mum on these threads. Denial, I guess.

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture. Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende. For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America. As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico. George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000

Fox to Bush "Mr. Bush, I understand that some in your country are concerned about security at the Mexico-US border."
Bush to Fox "Border?, what Border?"

Notice that "stopping the flow" isn't one of the topics.

President Bush has been great on most things except for our border.
He has been great on the war on terrorists.
But on the border he is a gross failure.
He acted fast and correct on the 3,000+ people murdered at the world trade center.
He ignores the many rapes, murders and robberies which might be larger than the murders and money loss at the world trade center.

Start building the fence.

It should be made a felony for Criminals who overstay their visas and Invaders.

I believe we should give amnesty to these poor CRIMINALS or INVADERS.
This should be a 2 week amnesty to get the heck out of our Country.
The ones who ignore this amnesty should be buried in a tent city jail and fined $10,000 or buried elsewhere.
All aiders and abettors of these CRIMINALS or INVADERS should get 1 year in a tent city jail and a $10,000 fine for each CRIMINAL aided.
Those in government should be the first ones charged.

I'm afraid you're right. President Bush seems genuinely to believe that millions of immigrants are needed to take low-paying jobs here. He also appears to be oblivious to the border problems. I just don't understand his thinking.

Swinney--it seems to me that Senor Bush should not be talking, at the moment--he should be listening--to Americans. Poll after poll after poll show that the rank and file American people, in ever increasing numbers, want our borders closed and secured.
