Having finally seen it last night, I have to say... it's an interesting movie, if nothing else. And it does show how the affair hurts the families. But I did end up feeling sorry for the both of them. Actually, for everyone involved. I don't really understand what made them fall for each other, but the emotion was portrayed pretty effectively.

"Even worse was the "racist response to Katrina" meme. Mostly this was aimed at George Bush, who botched the crisis badly, though not on any racial basis."

This is horse poop: when does this boob think George Bush was elected mayor of New Orleans, or even governor of Louisiana?

But it's much easier to try to pin things like this on George Bush than on to say that a couple Dimocrats are absolute incompetents.

So I guess that not liking a movie may be considered "racist" and "bigotry" by the left?

I live in a blue state and I don't know anyone who has seen it or has talked about wanting to see it. I've heard plenty about it, but it's all MSM hype.

I believe the more that the left tries to use people like Moore and Soros to promote homosexuality and the relaxing of moral values, the more that the red state type people will did their heels in to resist.

OK, so it's us red-staters fault we didn't flock in hordes to the local screens to plunk down $10 to support this pile of horrid unimaginable trash. This movie doesn't look like a chick flick, let alone a date flick, unless your living in a Frisco bath house.

Here's a fun, and subversive hobby for all FReepers: Make the term and concept of "Meme" a mainstream part of the American Lexicon. Pattern Recognition is a dangerous thing to a propagandist.

Something less than 8 million people have seen Bareback Cowboys, hardly a political juggernaut in a country of over 280 million people, where more than 80 million vote in national elections, especially when one considers that some significant percentage of those 8 million undoubtedly left the theatre either unmoved by or completely opposed to the film's message.

The only Brokeback Mountain juggernaut is in the minds of the hypsters and hucksters in Hollywood and the MSM.

My prediction: When it comes out at Blockbuster they will order tons of them to meet the "high demand", or will be pressured to anyway, and they will be all left on the shelf because no one wants to see it.

Liberal democrats and their stenographers ( MSM reporters ) push endless crap ... and yeah, it's all starting to backfire. Odd how they've got the courage to stand up to everyday Americans, but not enough to print a cartoon critical of Radical Muslims.

The liberals have deluded themselves into thinking that Farenheit 911 was great and we all saw it in theaters and bought the video.

Liberals delude themselves on a great many things. It is because they do not value 'truth'.

One of the oldest propaganda tricks on record is presenting a wish as a fait accompli. If, as Dumas said, nothing succeeds like success, then a "successful" movie will do boffo box office when it blows into new venues.

That's where the Hillary Health Care initiative got its start. It was assumed that all America was crying out for health care reform. There was never any evidence that that was true; it was simply presented as axiomatic. Nor do Americans favor affirmative action, environmental extremism, or homosexuality. But the Left presents those values like they're already part and parcel of the mainstream.

Same with this movie. It is NOT successful; for cripes' sake, Dukes of Hazzard outgrossed it!

There are lies, damned lies, statistics, and then the looking-glass dreamworld liberals live in, where facts and numbers mean everything and nothing at the same time.
