Would you care to guess who said this: "To the courageous men and women of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, who have changed the city of Tall Afar (Iraq) from a ghost town, in which terrorists spread death and destruction, to a secure city flourishing with life"?

Give up? That is a letter from...

Cal Thomas, once again, does a good job of shedding light on a reality, not some media-obscured message of hopelessness.

Doesn't count. The mayor is obviously nothing but a puppet of the American invaders.

The guy I'm dating is in the 3rd ACR, and just got back from Tal Afar. He said that the Mayor was trying really hard to convince the US to keep the Regiment there. I think the full letter involves a call to the President and the families of the 3rd ACR soldiers to allow them to stay beyond their deployment.

It's the same here in the UK - the media only report the 2% bad news and ignore the 98% good. Fortunately, the British people have always had great regard for our armed services and support them well, even if they disagree with the aims of a particular operation.

Right. Bah, poppycock. We know that Iraq is a quagmire where American soldiers are doing the jobs that Iraqis ought to be doing, terrorizing Iraqi women and children in the middle of the night.

Yes, and I try and try and try to report the good news from Iraq also and have been for a couple of years now. There is plenty of it and more progress than the media ever lets on. And the media blatantly misrepresents the majority Iraqi mindset about the overall situation.

Unfortunately, there are lots of so-called FReepers who would just rather follow the media and their distortions and lies than to believe someone who is actually seeing it and living it.

Granted, there has been a setback now, but we've had those before and things still stay on course.
