WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 — The Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee unveiled draft legislation on Friday that would create a temporary guest worker program that could allow hundreds of thousands of foreigners to fill vacant jobs in the United States for periods of up to six years.

The draft circulated by the lawmaker, Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, would also authorize millions of illegal immigrants who arrived in this country before Jan. 4, 2004 to remain here indefinitely, along with their spouses and children, as long as they registered with the Department of Homeland Security, paid back taxes and remained law-abiding and employed, among other conditions.

Already posted, but Specter is scum.

We need to go beserk opposing this one, there are NO limits on the number of foreigners allowed in, nor on which occupation.

This is the globalist's wet dream to end all wet dreams...

No cheers, unfortunately.

It's not difficult to write this,

Within my lifetime, within this country, this will cause large scale civil disturbances that foreign media will call a civil war.

Several thousand years of recorded history has proven there is no other end to this.

Old man Specter is going to build the second tower of Babel in his lifetime. Little known fact, he was the Hebrew ambassador to Scot-Irish nations when the first tower of babel was built.

Another DOA bill when it hits the House. All legislation like this does is upset more voters within the base that the GOP is going to need next November.

Another bill to reinforce the Conservative base while the RATS will have to decide which way to go on it.

Good move. It isn't going to happen anyway and Bush is not running in 08. Most Americans don't want this to happen. And the RATS will have to decide which way to vote on it.

I like it. Specter is still scum but I like it anyway.

Seems to me that this guest worker program is nothing more than another form of amnesty that was granted by Pres. Reagon. In 1988 that action was supposed to fix the problem once and for all. But here we are again! Our walk (or run) toward socialism and big government inflates wages and encourages sloth and increases demand for alternate sources of workers for businesses (which donate big money to politicians). The people of this country are not totally stupid with amnesia. Why do we not enforce the laws on the books? Just who controls our immigration quota system? Why can we not expose it to the light of day and have an open discussion with input from the affected population? Why have laws we do not enforce? We DO NOT want another failed solution to the problem!
