WASHINGTON, Feb. 28, 2006 – Two Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers were killed in separate incidents over the past two days, and five Iraqi patrols resulted in the detention of three suspected insurgents in Ramadi. West of the capital, a Multinational Division Baghdad soldier was killed by small-arms fire yesterday, Multinational Force Iraq officials reported. The other died Feb. 26 in central Baghdad.

The soldiers' names are being withheld pending notification of the family, and both incidents remain under investigation.

On Feb. 25, soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Iraqi Army Division, conducted five security patrols leading to the arrests of three suspected insurgents in Ramadi.

During one patrol, the soldiers received a tip from a local resident concerning a man involved with planting a bomb the previous day. The troops later found and detained the man, who had insurgent propaganda.

In a second incident, local citizens provided soldiers with information that a terrorist responsible for placing multiple bombs throughout the area used children to carry out his attacks.

Lastly, a man was detained after firing an AK-47 assault rifle at troops. Local citizens informed the soldiers that insurgents were paying the man to place bombs in the area.

All three suspects were taken into custody for further questioning. No injuries or damages were reported in each instance.

Upon reading the article over more carefully, I would say that they are Iraqi troops.

Special Forces soldiers perhaps, based on the vagueness and lack of specificity of the announcement?
