the wife and I are looking at something like $5000 a year when we send our kids to privates schools.

Of course, that is if we had kids right now, which we don't.

I live in CA and it runs $6K/yr for each kid. Maybe one day, before my kids are in college, vouchers will be approved.

I homeschool two for about $4,000 a year. (Pre-K thru 3) I could do it for a lot less if I had to. That number includes workbooks, reading books, karate lessons, tennis lessons, swim lessons, Boys Scouts, science classes, field trips, speech class, science fairs, sports day at the YMCA,drama class, art class, Young aerospace engineers club, and misc. materials like printer paper, printer cartridges.

I can pass down most of the materials I invest in from older son to younger son and then resell or trade up, a good deal of the non-consumable materials when my younger is done with them.

AND...I know my children are getting an education similar to our local private schools.

That's the amount we pay for our two daughters and that's with aid from the Archdiocese.

I spent 7,000 this year to send my kid to a reading school for three hours a week.
