MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Britain will thoroughly study the Russian Prosecutor General's Office's request for the extradition of businessman Boris Berezovsky, Anton Atrashkin, deputy head of the Press and Public Affairs Section of the British embassy in Moscow told Interfax on Thursday.

"We know that a corresponding request has been filed. I can assure you that any enquiry filed by Russian government bodies will be thoroughly examined in London," he said.

He is innocent. We are not sending him back to Russia to rot in a gulag. (Yes, they still have Gulags there, but these gulags are used more for criminals than political prisoners, even though Russia does hold some political prisoners as well)

1. There are no more gulags.
2. Berezovsky is a criminal oligarch.
3. Plotting coups is a breach of his agreement with the UK who will probably send him back to Russia, to face his crimes.

Berezovsky has broken laws, granted, like every businessman in Russia, but he is not being prosecuted because he's a criminal, he's being prosecuted because he's a political enemy of Vladimir Putin's and a Jew.

A Jew? You mean like the mayor of Moscow and several other powerful leaders in Russia?

Further Russia has been prosecuting these crimes, the law is the law, Russia has a case standing against berezovsky for his defrauding the Russian people of millions.

Berezovsky is a criminal, and Yeltsin croony. The law is the law, and he should be held accountable to it.

Hopefully this crook will be sent back for prosecution. He has caused untold amount of damage to his nation...but then again criminals like this creep have no nation.

Are you nuts? Y. M. Luzhkov isn't Jewish, he's Orthodox. Putin's going after prominent Jews, not as a pogrom, but to keep the favor of the nationalist electorate.

Further Russia has been prosecuting these crimes,

Extremely selectively. Oddly, friends of Mr. Putin's rarely seem to wind up in jail.

There are numerous ethnic jews in positions of power in Russian government.

Until Berezovsky was found to have commited greivous crimes of embezzelment and corruption Putin and Berezovsky were friends, similarly with Hodorkovsky.

The notion that Berezovsky is being sought because he's Jewish is ridiculous.

What an evil statement. There are many Jews in Russia holding high positions. Berezovsky has shown his colors, when he supported the Chechens, and you have shown your's too.

Oh yes, we've heard. "Jews" like Luzhkov. The simple, unavoidable truth is that Putin is persecuting select Jews because they're political rivals and because Jew-baiting plays well to his nationalist base. The pensioned party-members and slack-jawed zhirinovskayites are loving this.

Evil?

Lol!

Berezovsky has shown his colors, when he supported the Chechens

So? First of all, Berezovsky did not "support the Chechens", he opposed the second Chechen War, which is a very different thing. Second, you're proving my point. I don't like Berezovsky, I don't think he's a good guy, but Putin's attack on him is entirely personal (did he or did he not support Putin's invasion) and not related to any sort of legitimate legal concern.

Berezovsky unveiled research and a documentary film that, he said, convinced him Putin was aware that the state security service, or FSB, was behind the bomb attacks. "I am not saying Putin ordered the attacks," he told journalists at a London press conference. "I am saying that he knew such things were taking place." The aim had been to trigger a wave of outrage and allow Putin, who had been Prime Minister for less than a month, to show himself a man of action. Immediately after the blasts, the government announced that they were the work of Chechen terrorists. Days later Russia launched military operations against the lawless, breakaway republic of Chechnya. Within months Putin was President.

Berezovsky's accusations centered on an incident that took place soon after the worst bombings. Local residents in the city of Ryazan, south of Moscow, reported suspicious behavior to the police, who discovered a large quantity of an unknown powder. The FSB later claimed that they had been conducting an exercise, and that the powder was sugar, yet an explosives specialist from the city was quoted as saying that it was in fact hexogen, the substance that had wrought such horrible damage in Moscow and Volgodonsk. If the bombing was done by the FSB, Berezovsky said, Putin must have known. Until March of that year, he had been chairman of the FSB, and then combined this with a position in the Security Council, which oversees security and defense.

Berezovsky flat out lied about the incident at Ryazan.
Firstly, hexogen is not used as a powder form in this type of operation. It is the base for most plastic explosives.
Secondly, in the report a shotgun shell was used as the primer. Another report listed a rifle shell as the primer. Neither of these would set off a hexogen based explosive. These are military explosives, and you can fire shotgun or rifle shells into them all day long from 5 feet and they will never explode. You must have an explosive which has a burn rate faster than hexogen. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A SHOTGUN OR RIFLE SHELL TO SET OFF THESE EXPLOSIVES...IMPOSSIBLE

This is but one example of where Berezovsky flat out lied.

Berezovsky flat out lied about the incident at Ryazan.

So you basically admit that your problem with Berezovsky (which also happens to be Mr. Putin's problem) is that you disagree with him about politics.

I gave you but one example where Berezovsky flat out lied. He did support the Chechens, and one only has to do a Google on Chechens and Berezovsky to see the connections. My beef with Berezovsky is he is a snake.
